This is not surprising. Also keep in mind that according to psychiatric journals the average age at diagnosis for (most ) anxiety disorders is about 33. (This is in the US). Of course, many arent diagnosed until their late 30s -40s so (depending on the quality and quantity of care where this article was produced) a large percentage wouldn't qualify for the study as the diagnosis would come long after onset of CPPS symptoms.

I imagine this 33 # is shrinking rapidly as there is far more awareness of this than 2 decades ago. And kids (for better or worse) on medication as early as late grade school.

The United states is the largest market for pharmaceuticals in the world. The largest source of revenue ? Anti-depressant and anti-anxiety medication. (approx 25+% of sales). They edge out painkillers by a hair for #2.
Age:43 | Onset Age:36 | Symptoms: First urinary and backside, golf ball feeling, now ok (no heavy exercise) . Major onset seemed to be with heavy coughing spell , felt "tearing" or nerve pain in rectum/prostate. | Helped By:Hot showers, sleep.Worsened By: Type A obsessiveness ... Stressing, what-if thinking, weights.
