Hi guys,

Unfortunately, other than Bill Taylor, I don't know of anyone practicing in your part of the world.

You might try contacting women's health centers. Often, at least in the States, there are PTs in such clinics who have knowledge of the pelvic floor. Most of them treat incontinence, but you might get lucky and find one capable of treating pelvic pain, too. It would be preferable if such a PT had experience with men, but if they're willing and your options are short, you could at least have an evaluation done.
I am not a physician. This is not medical advice. Consult your doctor!

Age: 26 Onset Age: 17 Symptoms: Shooting, nerve-like pains throughout the penis, which abruptly hit and leave. Testicular pain, perineum pain, burning/irritative urination, extended pain after ejaculation. Occasionally, some allodynia or ache in the coccyx/sacrum/thigh/buttocks/legs. Diagnosis: Pelvic floor dysfunction, degenerated lumbar disk, and mildly herniated lumbar disk. Helped By: Physical therapy, pain management doctor, hot baths, therapy pool, stretching regimen, breathing exercises, relaxation, distraction. Worsened By: Arousal/ejaculation (worst), constipation, panicking/obsessing, other triggers depend upon current symptoms. Tests/Prior Treatments: Too many antibiotics to count, multiple urine tests (all normal), testicular ultrasound (normal), bladder and renal ultrasound (normal), lumbar and pelvic MRI with and w/o contrast (revealed disk problems), Elavil 25mg (caused retention), Flomax 0.4mg.

He's in Edinburgh but I can't find a website, just a number 01313328698. I might give him a call and book an appointment, it's a long way to go for an appointment but I guess if noone else can do anything then there's little choice!!He doesn't seem to be completely trained (and I am now completely cynical about doctors/specialists, even though I accept they are only human and can't be experts in everything) but seems to have done some good to people, even though there's also a few negative things here about him! What are your views? It's quite a difficult situation, as I'm in ******* agony but haven't really told anyone about it, and Edinburgh seems quite an excessive journey!!Thanks all.

You're probably right. I think I'll give this Bill Taylor a call tomorrow and book an appointment, get a flight up from London. America sounds like a good course, but if Edinburgh is a long way America's a whole different kettle of fish, and that would be a lot of saving up for something that isn't exactly a holiday. But, I guess I'm in the same boat as you and just want to get it sorted. I think I'm viewing these forums and stuff on the internet a lot more rationally now so that has to be a positive, some of it can definitely be destructive!!

Let me know if you decide to head up there.

P.S.By "these" forums I do not mean this forum, just general internet forums. Don't want to offend anyone, this forum really is massively useful!!

Hi,

I just phoned up Bill Taylor's physio and the secretary was really helpful. Just to fill you in she said the first session would be 2-3 hours at £100, and after that 1 1/2 hours at £75. Pretty pricey but all physio tends to be expense from my experience. She said some health insurance will cover it. Anyway, she advised me to send him an e-mail about my symptoms to get his opinion - his e-mail is [email protected], so it may be worth you doing the same, if you haven't done so already. The waiting list is about 2 weeks. Just got to look into the price and timings of flights now. At least Edinburgh's a nice place!
