Phage Therapy

Post by WS1234 »

WS, it seems the latest fad on the bacterial boards is phage therapy. Apparently there is a some clinics in Europe who are providing this treatment to prostatitis patients. I do my best to avoid those boards but it's been rather quiet around here lately. Just wondering if you've read up on this approach and what your thoughts are.

Quiet is good. It means people are getting the information they need without having to ask questions.

Phage treatment for bacterial infections is a big thing in Russia and nearby countries e.g. Georgia. It really has nothing to do with CPPS, which is almost always a non-microbial condition (and if there is a superimposed infection, it can be dealt with by antibiotics, as testing has shown).

There are scammers pushing this therapy at CPPS patients, specifically some doctors from the Eliava Institute in Tbilisi Georgia and its US-based website phagetherapycenter.com. The Georgia mob have been at this for many years. CPPS patients are lured to clinics like this mainly because of the rampant misinformation on the internet about CP/CPPS — which is why I established this website, to fight the scammers.

Look, if you have a well-established case of chronic bacterial prostatitis in which the bacterium involved has been proved to be resistant to all known antibiotics (an extremely rare situation!), only then is it even vaguely worth considering phage therapy.
