Total blockage and use of a urinary catheter
Total blockage and use of a urinary catheter
I have been suffering, I guess, from chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome as a result of an very enlarged prostate (total blockage) for many years but, have avoided the "rotor-rooter" by self-cathing. The pain only is present when there is any pressure on the prostate, such as urine in the bladder or gas in the rectum and last only until the pressure is relieved. Otherwise life is pretty normal. I have been taking the anti-biotic, Nitrofurantoin, to ward off any infection in bladder and this procedure has been working well - but there are risks with long term use of this antibiotic. Comments and suggestions???

Re: Total blockage and use of a urinary catheter
My comment is that I would have a procedure to open up the prostate. Compared to constant self-cathing, it's a no brainer, I would have thought!
