Cromolyn Sodium and Cetirizine Hydrochloride Clinical Trial

Post by HateCPPS »

Not sure if this has been talked about but Northwestern University (Feinberg Medicine) is doing a study on Cromolyn Sodium and Cetirizine Hydrochloride's effect on pain in CPPS.It has something to do with reducing mast cell tryptase. I'm thinking about joining this study, everyone gets the medication. But not sure if it will have much effect? I know both of these medications are available OTC, so it would be pretty easy to replicate this study without being locally involved..
Age: 25 | Onset Age: 21 | Symptoms: Pain in perineum area, bad ED, slower stream, loss of libido, | Helped By: Uroxatral, Heavy Doses of NSAIDs, Really Hot Baths/Sauna | Worsened By: Sex, Masturbation, Spicy Foods, biking, certain exercises, sudafed| Other comments: Mine started in a time after copious amounts of sex, I also held in ejaculation for a long long time after a sex break which may have contributed. Also went from protected to unprotected sex around this same time, but all tests show no bacteria. I do not have urgency issues.

Age: 43 | Onset Age: 43 | Symptoms: burning in tip of penis/urethra has mostly faded; mild pain in right testicle; main pain comes from anterior levator ani spasm | Helped By: hot baths, healing time days after PT, klonopin .25-.5mg, meditation (trying to learn) |Taking: 100mg zoloft (recent onset of tinnitus), Omega-3s, VSL3 Probiotic, Q-Rol, Zyflamend, Chelated Magnesium 500Mg | Worsened By: anxiety, depression, thinking about it too much | Other comments: sitting and pireneal and most penis pain/burning is gone from PT but just developed pain after ejaculation coming from levator; some pain from sitting too long depends on spasm; listening to Jon Kabat Zinn helps; need to de-stress my life; my PT says I'm at rock bottom and it's a long journey so I try to tell myself to be realistic about how long it will take and that this takes time so I try not to let it affect my social life

Do you know how cromolyn sodium to be used?

Admin comment: "Eligible subjects will be required to take medication for days 1-21 (Week 1-3), record their symptom scores weekly using the NIH-CPSI, and record all safety related symptoms."

Almost a week into treatment and not really noticing much at all improvement. Pretty bummed.

So I did stop taking the treatment after a week of not noticing much.

..(Really worried about taking medications now after I developed a vestibular disorder (inner ear balance disorder) and not sure if it was caused by medications (either from heavy nsaid, Uroxatral.. Uroxatral and drinking, or cialis/viagra type meds.)

Not sure if it would have kicked in later or not. The docs over at northwestern provided so little of detail on the trial.. "We're not sure if it will work or not.. If we have the right dose or not..Not sure how long we should administer.." I feel like they were just not giving info partly because they have a vested interest in producing this sort of for profit drug and or can't take the time to explain.

My muscles are super tight still but none of my 40 PT sessions seem to have a lasting effect. The PT can make my trigger points all go away where nothing hurts almost when shes poking around down there but it doesnt make the ache or symptoms such as ED or slow urine flow go away.

I feel like mine has to be a physical trauma problem to my prostate or something. I have had imaging done (MRI, TRUS, etc) but nothing showed really damage. Almost feels like my muscle are clamping down to push fluid out of my prostate that did not get expelled but there is congestion so it does not make its way out.
