International Pelvic Floor Muscle Expert Presents Live Webinars on Telemedecine

This upcoming webinar, will show how Howard I. Glazer Ph.D. uses the internet to share his expertise in the field of Lower Gastrointestinal, Urological and Sexual Dysfunction disorders.

(PRWEB) February 4, 2010 -- In an upcoming webinar, Howard I. Glazer Ph.D. will discuss how he shares his expertise in the field of Lower Gastrointestinal, Urological and Sexual Dysfunction disorders with colleagues and patients around the world and how this expertise can help patients in the Dallas, Texas area.

Recent technological and methodological advancements have enabled Dr. Glazer to provide SEMG evaluation and treatment services via the internet. Dr. Glazer is a Clinical Associate Professor at the Weill College of Medicine of Cornell University/New York Presbyterian Hospital, with a professional practice focus on surface electromyography in the diagnosis and treatment of lower urogenital tract, gastrointestinal tract, and sexual pain and dysfunction. His background combines neurophysiology/ neurochemistry, learning theory, sex therapy, behavioral medicine and electromyography.

He discovered that the muscles of the pelvic floor can be measured by highly sophisticated muscle measurement technology known as surface electromyography (SEMG); a noninvasive procedure much like an electrocardiogram to measure your heart muscle. Once the patients' exact abnormality is documented, it can be corrected by an individualized program of electromyographic assisted muscle rehabilitation (biofeedback) to assure that the correct changes occur in the muscle.

Recent technological and methodological advancements have enabled Dr. Glazer to provide SEMG evaluation and treatment services via the internet. In the first live webinar of the series on March 17, 2010, Dr. Glazer is joined by Kathy Tisko, P.T., a physical therapist in private practice in Dallas, TX with a focus on the evaluation and treatment of men and women with chronic pelvic pain. They will discuss how Kathy is able to enhance patient care by providing her patients with access to Dr. Glazer's expertise. They will then introduce the Glazer Intrapelvic SEMG Assessment and describe treatment procedures for a wide spectrum of functional disorders for many pelvic region symptoms- perineal pain, vulvar pain syndromes, prostate, urethral and bladder pain syndromes, pudendal nerve pain and ano-rectal pain as well with incontinence issues in men and women.

The development of telemedicine and evidence based biofeedback protocols for the diagnosis and treatment of chronic pelvic pain disorders is a major undertaking. In subsequent webinars, Dr.Glazer will discuss how through collaboration with the Biofeedback Foundation of Europe, his SEMG Assessment is being used in several other multidisciplinary and multinational research projects:

All webinars in this series are designed to provide guidance for both professionals and members of the public with special interest in the topics covered. Subscribers to this lecture series not only benefit by learning of the latest breakthroughs but also know that their contributions to the foundation's International Research and Education Projects (IREP) help to advance studies and bring alternative and complementary medicine closer to home.

The Biofeedback Foundation of Europe's mission is to provide health professionals worldwide with a greater understanding of how biofeedback training can enhance their ability to care for patients. Using an innovative approach to sharing knowledge, they offer a wide variety of online courses, and webinars.

The BFE was originally founded to promote a greater awareness of biofeedback among European health professionals and to educate clinicians in the use of the latest biofeedback techniques and technology through training workshops. The Foundation's advisory board is comprised of leading clinicians and researchers from multiple disciplines who share a common interest in the dissemination of information about this rapidly growing field. Their 14th Annual Meeting will take place this year from April 13-17, in Rome, Italy. The Biofeedback Foundation of Europe is a non-profit organization headquartered in the Netherlands.

I do not recommend Dr. Glazer.
Started: Spring 2003; high urinary frequency and pain associated with bladder filling; urinary hesitancy; pubic/prostate/perineal discomfort; Helped by: trigger point therapy, Afrin nasal spray, Cymbalta, hydrocodone (small doses), distraction. Makes worse: sex.

Not medical advice. Consult your doctor.
