Re: AUA 2009: Memantine

Is there any new yet about this study? The study is still ongoing and the initial results are very encouraging. We have expanded the study with additional study sites outside the original single study center. Interim analysis of the long-term results in a multi-center setting is in progress. Best, JD

Re: AUA 2004: Corticosteroids in the Treatment of CP/CPPS

I apologize for bringing back such an ancient thread, but since private messaging is disabled I didn't have another way to ask Dr. Dimitrakov if this study has been published. I'm actually asking at the behest of my wife, who was put on a short course (7 days, I think) of methylprednisolone for a d...

Re: AUA 2009: Memantine

"There are a couple of messages for the clinician," Dr. Dimitrakov said. "The main message is that we need to see a larger study in women with CPPS to evaluate this medication in more detail. The second is that in our hands, this medication appears safe and effective, with minimal side effects. Fin...

Re: AUA 2009: Memantine

hi, very interesting! how does this fit in with the study around lateonset CAH if at all? .... do the two papers support each other in an overall cause or do they suggest 2 different causes? :-D This is a treatment study which did not look for a "cause' for CPPS. It tested a specific treatment appr...

Re: AUA 2009: Memantine

Thank you Dr Dimitrakov for your efforts. What is the next step. I do not understand the process that happens from the point when a drug has been identified to be useful in a particular ailment to it becoming mainstream in the management of the ailment. Can you please throw some light on this issue...

I am afraid I cannot answer that question since it asks for specific diagnostic information. Please discuss with your physician.

Re: Has anyone has done a hormone saliva test?

Best current use of saliva is for DNA tests (e.g. SNP analysis). Saliva-based hormone tests are generally not very accurate and not that sensitive

We are currently recruiting only patients from the US and Canada for this study. There is a European study under way which might be of interest to your sister and you. Please e-mail me for further details if you are interested.

Re: Adrenocortical Hormone Abnormalities in Men with CP/CPPS

The test we performed is state-of-the-art and is not routinely used due to cost. See previous posts regarding the other questions. we have an ongoing trial following people on specific targeted therapy.

Re: Can quercetin have a negative effect on testosterone?

The CYP system is very sensitive to substrate concentration and could be tipped one way or another depending on the underlying genetic make-up of the system.
