I have a hard plastic toilet seat in a pillow case that I keep in the trunk of my car in case I have perineum pain. Bucket seats are definitely worse for me than the nice comfortable bench seats. These days I am ok with either, but for a long time, I looked at drivers old bench-seat cars with envy. ...

Hey perth, yeah, that gives me an idea of your particular symptoms. The wire of pain from your perineum to your foot might indicate irritation of one of the lower nerves. Have you traced that path out for a doctor? Because if the path is very particular around the leg, then it will tell them exactly...

Hey scoob, moderate physical activity, like gardening, spackling, etc, seems to do me good. I think making your old house competitive to sell in today's market (buyer's market) is kind of stressful. Maybe you can keep at it, just maybe not doing it like a bat out of hell, if that is possible. Or enj...

Hey RObert, sorry we didn't answer your question. Its a tough one, 'cause I have always been on the fence with the direct PT part of treatment. The most helpful part for me was learning to feel tension, and after that, the electrostim of the gluteals. As for whether it can make things worse or not, ...

I agree, Latte. Its certainly built in to me, and it is built into my family. So I don't expect to become a laid back kind of guy! But there are ways of coping with anxiety that my family doesn't practice, and those will help. You know, the usual positive behavioral things that we all get so...

I think I know what you are refering to but I want to make sure.

When you say spasms, are you talking about muscles twitching a lot, or are you talking about them getting hard and then hurting?

I tend to agree. While I still think that the body may have something to do with where pain appears, and may contribute to the ability of pain to appear, I don't think the body alone creates this problem. That is where I stand currently. We will see in a few years time.... Its always tricky with thi...

Thanks Luke, that is a very interesting thesis you had. Wish mine had been that exciting! :) Its interesting how there can be a schism along emotional ranges. Generally, I am known as a very emotionally expressive person who is in touch with my emotions as well as easily empathetic with others. Yet ...

How to Get at Latent Anxiety

I'm starting this topic to discuss something that I think is critical to those of us with CPPS, yet is very difficult for us to manage--Latent Anxiety. What is Latent Anxiety ? As a layperson, I am describing latent anxiety as anxiety that we cannot generally feel unless a very specific trigger is a...

I've spoken with Wise on the phone. He was nice enough to calm me down and explain that there was hope (even though he knew that where I was that was very hard to see.) He recommended the same PT. I think he generally recommends that PT to anyone on the New York area. I was not able to see her for t...

I realize you have been around this track before. Are you worried that this approach isn't the right one? To me, the big question was always if there was a benefit. Sometimes, after PT, I would get more sore for a day or two. We are talking about maxing out on prescription NSAIDS and staring at a bo...

It's so true. I had a flare during the last week of September and first week of October. Urethra stinging, sore perineum, etc. Now I am back to having zero symptoms again. Zilch, none. So while, clearly, something recurrent is going on here, it seems possible to drastically improve the problem to th...

Its up to you, Danzig. Just be careful, the bacterial theory of long term chronic prostatitis has been exhaustively tested, and it has been demonstrated to be a theory without any convincing evidence. So much so, that in the United States, Type III a and b chronic prostatitis is now refered to as Ma...
