Botox

I've had two lots of Botox injections and both really helped the PF muscle spasms. The only problem is that it is only temporary and the effects wear off. The first one lasted nearly 12 months though, and about four months after the second one I started having trigger point therapy done by a physio....

I presume the one in edinburgh you refer to is Bill Taylor? He is one of the best and, although I am in Birmingham, I manage to get cheap flights to Scotland and see Bill every couple of weeks. I would strongly urge you to try and get to see Bill as he is an excellent physio and is very familiar wit...

Budgie, Were your Botox injections directly into the Levator Ani? This is a very complicated procedure -- usually digitally guided from the inside, and injected externally; and also preceded by several pre-treatments of Procaine as a "trial." Also, did your Doctor locate trigger points, other than ...

Budgie, make sure you go to a PT that specializes in the pelvic floor. I went to a PT recommended by the GP and it was a complete waste of time because I asked him about the questions we pose on the forum and he knew nothing about it. I found a pelvic floor PT on the web near me but I haven't gone ...

Hi Neil, This is a difficult one, and I was just lucky. I've asked him several times before and he dosen't know of anyone elso in the UK who is doing this - although this is not to say there are not many physios who are, just that he dosent know of them. Probably your best bet is to get a yellow pa...

alprost Who did your PFD therapy as I'm having real problems trying to find a therapist who is qualified to do this? Maybe your therapist might know of one in the West Midlands. I have severe PFD and have had for three years now. I've just had Botox injections into the levator ani (5 weeks ago) but ...

I've just had Botox injections into the levator ani muscle, 4 weeks ago. It has flared the symptoms up since the treatment but it should settle soon (I hope!). I'll let you know how I get on.

Dry Needling

Actually, thinking about it, my specialist at Cambridge, Dr Munglani, together with another doctor, has been using a type of acupuncture into muscles whereby the needles I think are left in the muscle for a short period until it starts to either contract or relax (I can't remember which) and then it...

Re: Tizanidine

I tried this medication a couple of years ago, but I couldn't tolerate it; it knocked me out. I'm glad to hear you've found a regimen that is helping you though. :-D It does get a little easier the longer you take Tizanidine but it still makes me very tired even now. I had to increase the dosage ve...

Gabriel I did have a little tiredness at the beginning but now it is no problem. I'm currently on the maximum dose of 2700mg per day!! This was originally prescribed to reduce the nerve pain in my right leg and also in the urethra. It is a very good drug and helps me a lot. If you take it it is reco...

Hi all I thought I'd let you know that as well as the Neurontin and Tramadol which i've been on for over 2 years, I have recently started Tizanidine at 4mg per day and then up to 12 mg if I need it. It is to relax the pelvic floor muscles. This new drug is excellent and has helped my pain no end to ...
