No to Cystoscopy

I had two uneeded cystoscopies when I was in discomfort and both left me in worse pain. The pain lasted for 6 weeks in both cases. Furthermore nothing useful was learned from them. There is a man I spoke with who had his urethra RIPPED during a cysto and he required corrective surgery. I don't think...

Physical therapy experience

I found out about the Stanford/Wise-Anderson Protocol theory of pelvic pain on about April 1 2003. Yet my experience with the initial PT's I saw was not helpful. I went to Marilyn Freidman who was far away from me in Great neck, long Island. Her scedule was not flexible so I had to take days off. Sh...

labels

It is great that there is a forum here where we can discuss these things. For a long time I had felt very alone with this disorder. You are right that I did not even know how to label it to myself or others. How one labels it (sickness, disease, disorder, etc) really effects outlook.

psychological reconition

There is an unmistakable psychological component to this ailment which, if it is ignored or denied or unrecognized, effectively prevents improvement.

Journal of Urology

It would be nice to see something positive published in the journal of Urology so that the mass of Urologists can think outside the box :-)

:( Yes, I have found over the last few years that anytime I asked about the possibility of IC as a cause it was discounted because I was a man. Even in the face of negative cultures of prostatic fluid the uros would still hand me doses of levaquin and insist that bacteria were "hiding in the cave". ...

 I was refferred recently to Ms Futterman by Dr David Kaufman in NY. (Dr Kaufman undertstands this type of condition) but when I contacted her office they did not take my insurance in network. As this is an open ended commitment I instead have been going to Ann Duffy at Duffy and Bracken on Ma...

 :icon_smile_lachuh: Hey Paul, Just to respond to your question has anyone helped me. Of course people have helped. By July 2000 I had become worn down by the ache and life affecting symptoms that I considered jumping off one of my building projects on thhe roof where I was working as a Teleco...

 Hey Paul, I know how it is to spend (waste) money on treatments which go nowhere. You have to have a sense of humour about it. Though I am a New Yorker, I lived in Hong KOong and China from 1993 to 1996 and in the absence of any real idea of what was wrong I went to several unusual character...

Yoga has been an effective aproach for calming the CNS Central Nervous System. why don't you guys use your real names. I mean it's not as if having pelvic pain is a secret whic...

Robert in New York 20 years experience

 I can relate to the"terror" which you feel but first thing you need to do is get your emotions in check. It will be impossible for you to make good rational decisions in that state and peolple (doctors) may take advantage of a man who is not thinking clearly. My name is Robert and I am now 38 ...
