Re: AUA 2009: Memantine

I recently read about Dr. Dimitrakov's work using memantine for CPPS. The posts on the forum only list information from 2009/2010. Is there any followup information about the use of memantine for CPPS? Specially for me, I have neuropathic pain in my pelvis. Will this help?

Re: Relapse

Yes, I did at first but the brain fog and fatigue are pretty much gone. For a long time it felt like I had the flu all the time but that has subsided. Now the nerve pain in my pelvis is the worst symptom. Seems that these symptoms are consistent with small fiber neuropathy although its usually only ...

Re: New diagnosis tool for pain:Skin biopsy

Well I'm back. After ten years of fighting this monster its back in a big way. Started with burning pain in the pudendal nerve area and caustic diarrhea. Became full body tingling, burning feet and brain fog. Its been now about 18 months and the brain fog is gone but the burning perineal pain and bu...

Re: electrostimulation

My uro says that any surgical option is not feasible since I have pelvic floor dysfunction. He says a TURP may not do much. The latest MRI shows severe nerve compression at L5S1 but most people I talk to say that should not cause urinary retention. I think that's the problem. I see a spine surgeon i...

Re: electrostimulation

Well they have tested me for just about everything including allergies and arthritis. I am being treated for mast cell activation syndrome. I don't have urinary incontinence but I do have urinary retention. I take Flomax every nite which helps.

electrostimulation

I have had a long flare up of symptoms, going on ten months. Hate this. I have urinary retention, an enlarged prostate being 63 years old, and a compressed nerve at L5S1. My uro is offering me the Medtronics electrostimulation device implanted in my back for pelvic pain and to help me urinate better...

L5S1

Well this is Latte with an update. Recovered from CPPS several times but this one has got me good. About ten months ago I had caustic diarrhea off and on for a month, then the pelvic pain started with body fatigue and a weird body itchy feeling. They tested me for everything, all normal. Fast forwar...

Re: New here- Here's my Story

Hello Kevkos, you need a prescription from a doctor so Chrissie can give it to your insurance company. If you don't have insurance you can just pay her the fee. That would be less expensive than flying to see Tim.

Re: New here- Here's my Story

Kevkos, Great that you going to see Chrissie, she's a fine PT. Yes you can mention my name, she knows me well. I had about 30 sessions with her in 2005 and about 10 sessions last year. I sit in the jacuzzi almost everyday and stretch. I find that I feel better when I am active so I play a lot of gol...

Re: New here- Here's my Story

I never used the wand. For some reason is never appealed to me. What did help a lot was the PT in San Clemente but I had to go for more than 30 visits. I also found that you have to do the relaxation at the same time. If the PT works on the trigger points you have to relax your pelvis for it to have...

Re: New here- Here's my Story

I read all 7 pages of this thread and it reads like my life story with CPPS. I went to Dr. Zeitlin in 2002, Dr. Parsons in 2003, Dr. Wise's seminar in 2004. My advise with my experience goes like this. All the tests they did showed nothing except the cystoscopy done by Dr. Zeitlin which showed sever...

Re: Where to start and how to find a good PT?

If I were you I'd go see Tim Sawyer, Dr. Wise's PT. I think his practice is down around Palo Alto. I'm sure he is listed on the website. He is the best PT I know of for the condition. Its worth an evaluation.

Re: Wise Anderson Protocol worth the money

No but its close to the San Diego area. My PT is Chrissie Morgan in San Clemente so I drive about 45 minutes up the coast. She owns Body Awareness. She also teaches the doctors at UC Irvine about her treatment for male CPPS. Check out her website at www.bodyawarenesspt.com.

Re: Wise Anderson Protocol worth the money

I agree with the Scotman, you have to be committed to the protocol to see a major benefit. I attended the program in 2004 after being in pain for three years. I still use the relaxation tapes occassionally and I really like a few in particular. The program included a portfolio of about twenty differ...
