Re: New member here, just trying something new...

Okay, unfortunately, I have had to drop my recovery status back to 35%. The Elavil made me initially thrilled, but its effects have weakened in the past week and a half. I still no longer have perineum discomfort (yay!), but my penile pain/soreness has mostly returned and my rectal pressure is back ...

Re: Pain docs find successful treatment of female CPP

In short: nerve block + deep-breathing relaxation cured this woman. My therapist has been dropping hints lately that a nerve block could be in my future. My initial Elavil relief has subsided somewhat, so... lidocaine, perhaps. My pain is typically not severe enough to warrant a block, but if it per...

Re: New member here, just trying something new...

Hi everyone, I have great news!! After a couple of days, the Elavil 50mg has done absolute MAGIC and my condition has dropped 60-70%. I know this is no placebo, either, as this is perhaps the 8th or 9th medication I've tried and the first that did ANYTHING. My PT said she already saw a notable diffe...

Re: CPPS Warning

My CPPS is drastically affecting my sexual performance and enjoyment, mostly because my pain is mostly penile.

I imagine once it's cured (it will be, right.... ?) I'll go back to normal...

Re: Botox Bad? -- Migration to brain stem

My PT is emphasizing Botox would be an absolute last resort, if other severe measures (lidocane blocks, for instance) fail, and PT continues to give no relief.

Re: Chronic Pain Gene Identified

This sounds quite promising. It'd be really nice to find a drug that actually works on chronic neuropathic pain.

Re: Chicago PT recommendation?

Rhonda? Rhonda who? EDIT: ah, Kotarinos. Yeah... only problem is that her clinic does not accept any insurance. I'd gladly pay absolutely anything to be rid of this, but is she really worth 5 to 10 times more than a PT who accepts insurance? There must be other, more-reasonable therapists in the Chi...

Re: New member here, just trying something new...

Hi Yoink, Thanks for the post. I'm definitely trying to stick in here. I've been procrastinating ordering "Headache" for some time, not really sure why. (I've heard that if you call, you can sometimes talk to experts before ordering?) It's odd to hear that someone else has the momentary relief in th...

Chicago PT recommendation?

My experience with my current western-Chicago physical therapist has been iffy (three months with zero pain improvement).

Does anyone have a recommendation for a different one who I might consider consulting, at least for an evaluation?

Re: New member here, just trying something new...

This is my PT: http://www.antaresmedspa.com/team/henley.php She was recommended by my urologist (without me asking for a PT recommendation, and before I knew about this site or pelvic myoneurapathy, by the way... which says something.) She is familiar with W-A and "Headache" (I really need to buy an...

Re: New member here, just trying something new...

Update: After three months of physical therapy, I'm afraid I can't report any positive results. My therapist tells me each week that my pelvic floor continues to be bound up and highly sensitive. My pain continues: stinging tip of penis during/after urination, dull burn switching between penile shaf...

Re: Hello all! New to the forum but not new to CPPS

Hi Yoink, I'm encouraged by your report of some success with Elavil. It's one of the few recommended medications that I haven't put through my system yet, and that combined with recent episodes of that ever-deadly "catastrophic thinking" has me convinced I need to give it an extended trial session. ...

Re: Woes of a Prostatitis Newbie

Elavil is not yet something that I have tried, but it gets a pretty good pedigree on here. Given that my gabalpentin seems to have done butt all, I may swap it for Elavil and see if I feel any improvement.

Re: Woes of a Prostatitis Newbie

I'd like an explanation, too, honestly. On my worst days, I feel much like Sediment does... that this disease is sucking all the joy out of my life. I know that I'm supposed to do my best to not dwell on it. I know I'm just supposed to relax and stretch and drop the pelvic floor and think happy thou...
