Re: New member here, just trying something new...

Okay, I think I've finally identified the muscle that's feeling "pulled" all the time: both the left and right sides of the ischiocavernosus.

How this has anything to do with my levator ani trigger point is beyond me, but the pulled-muscle feeling comes and goes at regular intervals.

Re: New member here, just trying something new...

Thanks for the great post, Yoink. For whatever it's worth, I'm actually cross-dominant. I'm a natural righty, but I have right-handed transverse terminal aphalangia (a slight birth defect) so I have to use my left hand for some things. I write, play tennis/squash and golf righty, but I throw, shoot ...

Re: New member here, just trying something new...

So this is where I'm at. Both a pelvic-pain specialist and a physical therapist have confirmed that I have one giant big honking trigger point in the spot Wise says is the most common culprit for penile pain: anterior levator ani (left side). The rest of my pelvic floor appears completely normal. Ju...

Re: Chicago PT recommendation?

Does the name Sheila Dugan mean anything to anyone?

My urologist has referred her to me. So far, her advice has been "take a crapload of gabapentin." That may or may not be helping; it's hard to tell. I have a follow up on Dec. 2.

Re: New member here, just trying something new...

Right, this is my personal diary, so: I saw a new pelvic pain specialist last week, who decided she wanted to try very high levels of gabapentin. I'm slowly working up to 1800mg/day (600 3x). Not entirely sure if it's working yet. I do seem to be feeling a bit better. She also did a lidocane injecti...

Re: Elavil- Experience Day 2 and question

Hi Kevkos, Just chiming in. My Elavil fogginess only lasted one day, and then I ended up with some mild relief from certain symptoms. I have started experiencing occasional chronic flatulence, a known side effect of Elavil, Webslave said, but otherwise the only lingering effect is a bit of difficult...

Re: New member here, just trying something new...

A new symptom that has been cropping up occasionally lately: a "pulled-muscle"-like feel just above the pubic bone on each side of my body. It seems to emanate from the sides of where the penis attaches to the body. It comes and goes--it's vanished for a week at a time, and then will come back for a...

Re: Excessive gas

Does anyone have issues with, um, excessive gas at the other end?

I've been noticing that a lot lately. I have no idea if it's a part of the progression of my pelvic-floor dysfunction or what.

Re: New member here, just trying something new...

I am still taking it daily (right before bedtime) with no ill effects. As I said before, the first day was hell (exhausted, soporific hell) but since then I have had no problems, although little benefit either save for a slight change (relocation, mostly) of my pain. On a busy day recently, I had to...

Re: New member here, just trying something new...

Right, so my pelvic MRI was performed and, no surprise, came back completely clean. Thankfully, my insurance picked it up 100%. I have my next urologist appointment on Monday. My (very progressive and open-minded) urologist works in tandem with my physical therapist, who is suggesting a radical push...

Still, in my continuing quest to remain optimistic, it'd be nice to urinate without pain, if nothing else.

Re: New member here, just trying something new...

I may add Terasozin. I was on Uroxatral before, but maybe a different alpha blocker could help me.

My urologist wants to do a pelvic MRI on me; I have to make sure my insurance will approve it first, though.

Re: New member here, just trying something new...

An update: I am now almost certain that ejaculation worsens my conditions for the following day or two and perhaps for longer. Despite my PT's assurance that it's actually helpful, I am going on as much of a sexual moratorium as a 24-year-old man can take (which is, unfortunately, very easy when you...

Re: New member here, just trying something new...

The initial effect of the Elavil was great, but over time the benefit has waned significantly. The perineum discomfort is still mostly gone, but my other symptoms remain nasty. As for side effects, the first day after I took it, I was woozy and fairly useless most of the day. After that, the only si...
