spinal problem?

Hi, all was going well until I decided to take a break from the Elavil and now the pain is back pretty bad. am just wondering, what is the likelihood of this problem being spinal rather than muscular? for some reason my pain seems to be quite specifically located in my left rear pelvis at the moment...

Endep/Elavil

Just wanted to post about the difference I've noticed since starting Elavil four months ago (30 mg a day). Am deeply thankful to the doctor who prescribed it because the treatment has really changed my life. It did take about four or five weeks to begin to work, and there was a lot of drowsiness ini...

you're in luck

Dr Helen O'Connell at the Royal Melbourne Private Hospital is a urologist who specialises in this area. She has helped me, basically with amytriptyline and some work with a physiotherapist she recommended.
It's been four months on amitriptyline now and I can't believe the improvement in my life!

pelvic pain and IBS

can anybody explain the connection b/n pelvic pain and IBS? is it the same tension that causes irritation? often I just feel like everything below my navel is going wrong. I still get sucked up into the 'candida' paranoia occasionally, until I talk myself out of it. I haven't been diagnosed with IBS...

Elavil? algonot plus?

hi all, my uro has put me on 20 mg of amitriptyline (Elavil) daily. it is making me very groggy but seems to be helping with my pelvic pain (1 month on the drug). I have less sharp stabbing pain at night. one thing i've noticed is that my stomach feels bloated and sensitive and I think I suffer from...

the more I hear about muscular tension the more I understand, but it still seems weird to make that connection. something is definately wrong.

good suggestion, innocent bystander. i had a bilateral varicocele ligation at 17 because some hack uro thought this was the cause of my pain. sadly, no pain resolution and almost ten years of the same frustration we all experience. no devastating harm done, but what a waste of time and energy and ho...

thanks for your replies. my uro recently wrote me out a referal for a physiotherapist who specialises in pelvic floor rehabilitation. the suspected diagnosis on the form reads "? pelvic floor spasm and chronic pelvic pain syndrome". sounds like he suspects the same thing as you guys. I'll make an ap...

mercury amalgam

in my desperation to find the cause of my pain I'm currently looking into the whole mercury amalgam toxicity thing. obviously this is a very contentious topic, and I'm definately not convinced by holistic dentistry, but seeing as conventional medicine has nothing to offer me I don't have much to los...

amytriptaline

just had a urodyniamic study done yesterday that showed nothing unusual. having a catheter inserted was no fun. uro has decided that the best course of action to deal with my pelvic and testicular pain is to put me on a low dose of amytriptaline (starting on 5mg daily and working to 10mg daily), cal...

diagnostic procedure

hi, went to see uro today and he suggested a diagnostic procedure called a 'fluoroscopic urodynamic study'. it sounds like hydrodistension's little brother. am wondering if people have had this and if they think it's worthwhile. to quote info, "small tube into bladder. the bladder is then filled wit...

hi bergie, i thought my pain was related to a small inguinal hernia and wound up having an open mesh repair two months ago. it was a bad idea - that wasn't the cause of my pain (very similar you yours) and it was very disheartening. it may well be the problem in your case but please be sure, I made ...
