Paruresis and self-catheterization

On top of my CPPS symptoms, which often include frequency, I suffer from an intensely shy bladder. Anytime I'm paid attention to, urination is just not happening. If I'm playing a gig and can get away, I usually have to walk down the street to a fast-food restaurant or gas station. If I'm out with a...

Re: Did I hurt myself?

The uro, after seeing me, thinks I might have bruised my prostate. He says it should heal in time. Ugh.

Re: Did I hurt myself?

I was just applying pressure to what I thought was a trigger point in a muscle. Probably around that area, though, yeah. :/ Will call uro tomorrow. What's encouraging me is that this discomfort isn't there when I wake up or after a BM -- which is just like all of my other CPPS symptoms -- so maybe i...

Re: Did I hurt myself?

Oh no. But the Stanford/Wise-Anderson Protocol is based on doing internal work yourself, and the attitude of Tim and Dr. Wise seems to be, "experiment and learn from your mistakes."

This doesn't sound like a mistake that will be easily recovered from, though...

Re: Did I hurt myself?

Ever since the day afterward, I've had perineal pain that mimics the urgent need to urinate. It disappears right after urination and comes back a few minutes later, whether I'm able to urinate or not. Seems to be based in the shaft of the penis. This is a new symptom. I'm seriously wondering now if ...

Re: internal massage vs pudendal neuralgia

I know I'm currently experiencing one of the worst flares of my life after doing internal trigger point work, and it seems to be mostly affecting my nerves (itching, constant feeling of having to urinate, sexual hypersensitivity, etc.) It also seems to be located around the specific trigger point I ...

Re: Two questions for everyone (alpha blockers and dating)

I'm 33. My symptoms started at 25. I was almost married at 22, hah! I've been in basically two long-term relationships (5 years each). The CPPS started shortly after the second one started, I talked about it, and everything was okay. But we'd already been very serious for a couple of months. This ti...

Two questions for everyone (alpha blockers and dating)

Alpha Blockers and reflux: When I tried Flomax, the next day I had a brutal case of acid reflux that lasted for three or four days. My gastroenterologist claims that what relaxes one sphincter relaxes the others. However, my urologist claims that he's never had a patient complain of reflux caused by...

Re: My Story (Etaoinshrdlu's case)

My GI guy doesn't think I can take alpha blockers no matter what. I've tried elevating my bed in the past. But with Flomax I had horrible reflux just walking around, sitting at my desk, etc. Nighttime reflux was not the only problem. And I can't always be in situations where I can elevate my bed... ...

Re: My Story (Etaoinshrdlu's case)

I tried alpha blockers. They gave me fierce, intensely painful acid reflux despite the fact that I was taking Nexium twice a day and Pepcid at night. Burning mouth + burning stomach = who cares if I can pee or not. My GI guy basically said that anything that relaxes one sphincter will relax the othe...

Re: anyone else have tight, sore calves and/or spinal issues?

Interesting. I definitely experience upper leg pain coincident with CPPS. What's frightening me is that even at home, in a completely relaxed environment, urination is becoming more and more difficult. Shy bladder probably just complicates it. Sometimes I almost want to give up, but I know that hold...

anyone else have tight, sore calves and/or spinal issues?

Since discovering that my "prostatitis" is actually muscle tension -- my pelvic muscles are so tight that it's getting more and more difficult for me to start or even continue urinating; sometimes it's almost impossible unless I'm in a secluded bathroom with the lights off and I have ten minutes to ...

Did I hurt myself?

I did internal work last night (without the wand) and woke up this morning feeling great, but after an hour of being at work, there's an absolutely excruciating pain in those muscles. True pain is a new symptom for me, not part of what I've ever experienced before, even after doing internal work. An...
