If only I could find a way not to sit down?
I have the same problem, sitting seems to make things worse.

I was looking into getting a donut pillow, have you ever tried one, or has anyone else? If so did it make any difference?

Re: Starting pelvic treatment after 4 and a half years

Don't give up on the stretches or looking for trigger points, both are a very big part in dealing/beating this! I also get pain from stretching and burning in the muscles, this is probably because we haven't really worked those muscles for a while and as we stretch and build them stronger you will c...

Re: Underwear

I have found that sports underwear is the most comfortable. Most of my underwear were cotton and would feel rough and uncomfortable as the day would continue. I wore some sports underwear (90% polyester, 10% spandex) and it was much better. They are tight, so keep things in one place down there, but...

Re: Suffering

Hi suffering, you have very similar symptoms to myself except cold seems to make mine worse. I also have a long drive to work and put the heated seat on when driving for some relief. I feel better on days when I'm not working (As I have to sit down for long periods), and also have no pain in the mor...

Re: Starting pelvic treatment after 4 and a half years

Just a lot of the stretches and relaxation techniques. Also the abdominal trigger point therapy and foam roller (Although I did get some new ways to use it). Working with the physio ball is new to me, but looks like you could get lots of benefits from it. I'm not sure about how her program recommend...

Re: Starting pelvic treatment after 4 and a half years

Hi Juan, I also bought the Isa Herrera book and have just finished reading it. I was thinking of trying her program myself and was wondering if anyone has had any success with it? The book itself seemed quite good, although it would take a lot of time to do ALL the recommendations! There are some th...

Re: Never thought I'd be back

It was mainly burning in the urethra, but also peeing sensation. This is my main symptom (burning/stinging in urethra) and no one has ever replicated it, until the urologist did it.

Re: Never thought I'd be back

I'm not entirely comfortable with the medication but want to rule everything out. I'm pretty sure that in a month, if I'm not better, he's going to say I have non-bacterial prostatitis and send me on my way! The one nagging doubt I have is that he replicated my symptoms by pressing on the prostate. ...

Re: Never thought I'd be back

I saw the urologist today and he said he thought it was bacterial prostatitis! I told him I did 2 urine samples that were both clean and he said it probably wouldn't show up in a urine sample. He gave me 30 days of ciprofloxacin, despite me already being on 10 days of the same drug with no improveme...

Re: New Book released to help MEN WITH PELVIC PAIN

I bought this book and I'm almost finished it. There are lots of exercises in the book, and it guides you through the program that the author has set up specifically for men with pelvic pain. I haven't tried the program yet but a lot of the stretches are common ones we will all do. This is based on ...

Re: My Story

Hi WS, I didn't have these symptoms when I saw Carolyn and tried to see her this time but she relocated. How long have you been seeing her? Long story short when I was a patient of hers, it took about 9 to 10 months of treatment for me to get to about 95% better. When I first went I couldn't do any ...

Re: My Story

I have similar problems (Urethral pain/stinging, especially in the meatus). A while back I saw Carolyn Vandyken and she really helped me, so I would recommend her to anyone, unfortunately she's relocated to the Muskoka region. My symptoms have subsided a bit, over the last 6 weeks or so. I've been d...

Re: Never thought I'd be back

Sorry I've not replied sooner, been busy the last few days. I have an appointment with a Urologist next week and will go through things with him then. I did go to see my family doctor who did a prostate exam, 2 urine samples and sent me for an abdominal ultrasound and intrarectal prostate ultrasound...

Never thought I'd be back

About 10 years ago I started getting pain and went through the same process as everyone on here. Doctors, Urologists, tests, scans.....Diagnosis - Prostatitis. I eventually found a great PT and resolved 95% of the pain, 3 years after onset. Over time I basically stopped stretching, looking for trigg...

Re: Therapist/Urologist in Toronto

You could try Nelly Faghani, who is based in Toronto. I've heard she is very good. Failing that she set up a company with Carolyn Vandyken to train PT's for pelvic pain disorders, and their website has a list of PT's (www.pelvichealthsolutions.ca). I saw Carloyn when I first had symptoms about 10 ye...
