Re: Intrarectal pelvic PT a "meaningful treatment"

I do think this is so important, though agree with Webslave and others that we have to be careful to claim this disease (or diseases) is simply just trigger points. There are those of us who have been examined by Tim Sawyer and others who have found some moderate trigger points, and some definite ti...

Re: Stephanie Prendergast of San Francisco

I would like to third this :) - Stephanie and Liz are VERY knowledgeable (this is all they do) and are ACTIVISTS as well. They single-handedly got Oprah's producers to look at PT as a viable treatment option for vulvodynia after she tried to tape a show not addressing the possibility of pelvic floor...

Does anyone on this board see Dr. Berger or part of the study I wonder?

Re: Stubborn trigger points (Ramana's Case)

Interesting - I had a doc check my 17-hydroxy progestererone, testosterone, LH, FSH, ACTH, and cortisol - all came back normal (he then said that I don't look to have a deficiency in 21 hydroxylase because the 17 hyd... and the ACTH would have come back elevated). This book doesn't seem to indicate ...

Re: Could Viagra cure chronic pelvic pain?

I was wondering if anyone has heard of how this study went. In doing a little research, it looks like the Richard Berger study of Viagra at Washington University was suspended for administrative reasons. I know there is a presentation listed at the upcoming AUA conference looking at Cialis' impact o...

Electroconvulsive Therapy

Ok, I know this one is WAAAY far-fetched, but my friend, someone whose medical opinion I respect, suggested I check into ECT. Apparently it has shown great efficacy in fibromyalgia and other pain conditions. It is much more controlled and much less scary than the "shock" therapy from years ago. Anyo...

Re: Adrenocortical Hormone Abnormalities in Men with CP/CPPS

Dr. D - I think another thing to add may be a list of doctors who are familiar with this kind of evaluation. We certainly know of those who are willing to work with us (and there are only a few) - but it is hard to know how much they are familiar with the details of the disease. You seem so much mor...

ejaculation pain and decrease in volume/intensity

Anyone narrowed down a trigger point or reason for the significant decrease in volume/intensity of ejaculate or the penis tip pain (feels different than then hypersensitivity I normally feel during the day from CPPS) during ejaculation?

Thoughts?

Thanks guys!

HPA axis abstract on CPPS and Fibromyalgia

NOTE: I'm not sure about this journal's reputability and the subjects with CPP are WOMEN not men (and I don't really understand some of the details of the "methods" section here...but thought others might be able to explain :) HPA Axis Reactivity and Lymphocyte Glucocorticoid Sensitivity in Fibromy...

Re: Burning down legs

I have to second what superuse was saying - I was a dancer for years and it is that hypermobility that my PT says may have contributed to the issue. In fact, she recommends only moderate ranges of motion through the hips for people dealing with pelvic pain, as too little or too much use of the ROM i...

Re: Triggering bowel movements from internal massage

My understanding from my PT is that the chances of this are very low - I also know NO gay men (and I know many living in SF) that have ever had a problem with this from "recreational" activities. This city would be full of men with "urethral strictures" - in fact my PT says very FEW gay men are in h...

Re: Having bad anxiety today

Hey dude - I've been there - and hang in there! It's hard when the symptoms become a little more spread out. Honestly, it can be scary. I have burning sometimes in my legs, buttocks, feelings of prickly skin (like I'm wearing a wool sweater on a hot day) where my hair feels itchy on my chest abdomin...
