Re: Sore groin/ yoga

Never, ever push through pain when stretching. This is a sure sign you've overdone it. Stretching is not at all like Conditioning where "no pain no gain" rules. After stretching (and during it) you shouldn't have pain. If you do, stop stretching for a couple of days. Let the muscles relax and heal. ...

Re: Referred pain and local pain (trigger points)

I have had the same problem myself. It wasn't until I saw Marilyn Freedman in NYC that I finally found a PT that quickly zero'd in on the area near the prostate. Problem is you have to really go in deep to get this area. For me, it felt like someone dumped very hot, burning oil all over my penis esp...

Re: Sciatica, back pain, exercises

Webslave, Thanks for the answers. 1) Do you recall your pain pattern/spread? Like was it buttock, hamstrings? Burning, stabbing, etc? Mine tends to be fine or near fine when I stand or walk. It's when I sit that it gets bad. Mostly burning over the buttock and down into the hamstring. I've been doin...

Re: Sciatica, back pain, exercises

Webslave,
1) How often during the day do you do the back extension?
2) How long before you noticed the pain started to centralize into your lower back?
3) Do you do the strengthening exercises?

Thanks

Re: Sciatica, back pain, exercises

Webslave, Amazing post, thanks. Yes, my office chair has lumbar support (it's an Aeron chair). But I'm struggling to find a chair with a seat that doesn't make sitting as painful. I can sit on hard wooden chairs just fine. But soft chairs are very bad. The back exercises seem similiar to the McKenzi...

Sciatica, back pain, exercises

Webslave, I believe you mentioned you have or had sciatica. I've been battling sciatica for 10 mos now - almost as long as CPPS. Can you reply with any thoughts on therapy that's worked for you, chairs you like, etc? I had an MRI that shows my l5-s1 as herniated but my buttock pain does not radiate ...

Zody chair

Anyone looked at the Zody Mid Back Mesh chair as a better chair for long periods of use (like at a computer)? It's been endorsed by the American Physical Therapy Association and has something called "passive pelvic support". http://www.haworth.com/haworth_admin/images/61326_J-Main.jpg http://www.haw...

Works for me also. I tend to buy a 3mo supply so I don't run out. I take 1 pill 2x / day.

Re: To Kegel or not to Kegel

One thing to consider is that there is a big difference between Kegel's and other core exercises like working on the Transverse Abs + Multifidis. The Transverse muscles form a corset around your middle and are underneath the big Rectus (6-pack) muscles. The Multifidis are smaller muscles in the back...

Pain levels changing

Question for Webslave, scooby, etc: I've been noticing over the past month that my pain level has changed and wanted feedback from you guys. From beginning of this condition until then I had pain every day, some days pretty bad. Mostly hyper-sensitivity and soreness in the penis but also perineum an...

Re: My story, just thankful I found this forum!

Canbob, My doc asked me to start taking a B-Complex supplement based on the Vit tests. I take Pure Encapsulations 950 w/o Iron. This is a medical grade vitamin sold only to medical professionals. Best thing is to test first to know where you are before taking things esp vitamins. If you take them, y...

Gluten avoidance and Oats

Webslave,
Have you found a gluten-free alternative to oats? I love oatmeal in the morning esp for its cholesterol benefits.

Thanks

Re: My story, just thankful I found this forum!

Canbob, Lots of good advice so far. A couple of other things I can add to the list for you. First, as Webslave and Dr Wise point out part of our problem is muscular (ie trigger points). In Dr. Travell's authoritative books on TrPs, she discusses at length nutritional issues that can exacerbate the c...
