Re: Stubborn trigger points

Assuming you are pressing on them for 60-90s with appropriate pressure, stubborn ones can take a few weeks or so to go away. And that's working them every day. But you are correct in that after pressing them, you should gently milk them (Thiele massage). This will stimulate blood flow to the area. B...

adductor magnus referral to pelvis

Anyone have any issues with their Adductor Magnus muscle referring pain into the pelvic area? This is a big muscle in the hamstring area that runs on the inner back part of the leg up to the sit bones. TrPs around the attachment area can refer pain. I've had one referral from that muscle into the pe...

Re: Oh my god now I know what you mean by pain

Gary, Trust me, re-read Webslave's posts to you and relax a bit. Go see your doc and get a script for some Elavil 10mg and take it. If you are really stressing during the day, get a script for some short term Xanax. Stress, end-of-the-world thinking makes CPPS much worse. It's something we all have ...

Re: Have you other problems besides this one?

I What's weird is that I don't really feel that stressed even though inside, way deep maybe at the cellular level, I'm going a mile a minute. That's the problem with really deep rooted stress. It's so deep that you can't feel it. I do so much to relax I could be the Poster Child for relaxation tech...

Re: Sciatica, back pain, exercises

Webslave, I saw a neurologist for the sciatica on 2/14 on the request of my internist. He did a full exam along with a review on my MRIs of the lumbar area. He doesn't think it's coming from the back; the MRI shows the herniation on the left, but pain is on the right. An orthopedic surgeon I saw dis...

Re: Anterior Levator Ani

Around I1-I2, the muscles attach to the bone. As I reach up to that area, I move across a bony area that goes laterally across. I assume that is the beginning of the pubic/pelvic area in the diagram. Then the muscle seems to dip a bit into a shallow space and then come back up again at the attachmen...

Re: Have you other problems besides this one?

I have sciatica in my right buttock leg. Sometimes the sciatica is worse than the CPPS, and sometimes the other way around. But in your case, it sounds like you have a serious stress related issue. You should go see your doctor immediately and talk about the variety of anti-anxiety treatments that a...

Re: What does Elavil do?

Hey Carl,
A question for you - I know Elavil and Tramadol together can have problems. I talked with 2 diff pharmacists and my doctor. All said it was ok at this dosage. Have you or any of the other Elavil users ever had any issues mixing the 2 ?

Thx

Re: What does Elavil do?

Inulin fiber is also very helpful for keeping constipation at bay. I mix some in with my apple juice every morning. No problems.

Re: Sciatica, back pain, exercises

Yes, I noticed that. I guess ice is too "old-school". I've had a bit of a set-back. For the first week, I did the sphinx version of the exercise (10x - 5s each). Pain centralized. Then in the 2nd week, I increased the time (10x - 10s each). Pain continued to centralize. I did the exercise about ever...

Webslave,
Here is a highly excellent article on the issue of annular tears and how they contribute to sciatic pain.

Re: Sciatica, back pain, exercises

Webslave, Thanks for the tip. I wasn't sure if the gel pak would be too cold for the spine, but I will switch to not using a towel wrap around it. But man, does it ache when first applied. It seems to numb after a couple of minutes and then is just cold. I was doing more reading about herniations an...

Re: Sciatica, back pain, exercises

Webslave, Last night I put on an ice pack - one of those soft gel packs - wrapped in a damp towel on my lower back. After about 2 minutes I got a couple of sudden shocks of pain from my back down my right buttock and into my leg - bad enough I almost yelped. My right side is where my pain is at. Aft...

Probably why the SP focus on moment-to-moment relaxation, and following a regular meditation practice is part of the treatment.

Re: Sciatica, back pain, exercises

Webslave, I've been doing the sphinx pushup you show (the one up on the elbows) for 8 days now. Every couple of hours. I've noticed that my buttock pain, while still there, has shifted and more in my low back now. I've also had moments in the day where I only have low back pain. Does this sound norm...
