Re: Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) natural remedy

Some people also get a lot of relief from the opposite. They have excessive stomach acid that irritates and causes diarrhea. I have CPPS and IBS D as well, and while this didn't work for me, it has worked for others I know. They use a little bit of baking soda in water after each meal. Similar effec...

Re: paradoxical relaxation

Love this conversation already. What is paradoxical relaxation, for me? Its the realization that when we are trying to relax, we are doing something. Because trying is doing, and doing is action, this is opposite of relaxing. (Hence the paradox). Therefore we are just being with the tension. We have...

Re: Post Defecation Symptoms, PT question.

Yes, post defecation (or urination) in my case, the pain is worse. Using those muscles worsens symptoms. I have IBS - D. Having more diarrhea means more pain for me. Because those muscles go into over drive. Try and relax as best you can before you go. Maybe have a hot relaxing bath first? (Or after...

Re: Sharing my story

Usually having a cold can worsen symptoms. I have seen it in dozens of patients with CPPS (as well as myself). Usually the immune system becomes overwhelmed and therefore stops dealing with your inflammation as well and things get a bit out of control. Not necessarily the other way around. I have no...

Re: Sex vs Masturbation

PS, I use codeine 20mg when I have sex and these are not feeling good down there. I used to use around 60mg a year or two back, but now my dosage is down. It doesn't completely stop the pain, but it brings it down to a more manageable post-sex level. If things do flair post sex badly, I use Ativan a...

Re: Sex vs Masturbation

Hi, Sorry to hear about you having trouble with dating. I've been there. I think we all have been there. I've had a few girlfriends but would have preferred one over the last few years. But like I said, its hard to keep things going with pain getting in the way. That being said, I dont regret anythi...

Re: Sex vs Masturbation

If you are concerned about telling a potential or new girlfriend, then tell it like it is. Its a pelvic pain disorder that causes pain in the pelvis area. (Which can include sex). Make that part of the bigger picture of pevlic pain. Don't make it the emphasis if you dont want to. I think its all abo...

Re: How Helpful is the Wise-Anderson Wand?

Agreed, I also paid a lot (like everyone) to visit the clinic, and take home the tapes. But in just 3.5 years, a huge amount of the tapes have now failed, leaving me a little SOL. I have two piles of tapes. One pile of "works", and one pile of "doesnt work". MP3s would be a relief. But thinking abou...

Re: Acute Flare

Yes and no. I was put on Elavil about 7 or 8 years back towards the beginning for me. At that time I had no idea about this forum, CPPS or anything of that nature. I remember my dose being quite high and stopping. At this point I dont remember why. However I think I will try it again. When I say "no...

Re: Acute Flare

In the end I didn't stretch through the first 3 days of the flare. The last day or so, I gently did it. Time as usual was the key. Almost back to "normal"

Re: Acute Flare

Agreed mentality has a huge part to play right now for me. I was at 40% pain a week ago, now I am back to around 90-100% pain. That's a huge jump for me in a short amount of time. Usually I have been hovering around that 30- 40% mark for a few years. Never quite dipping below that. But being functio...

Acute Flare

So I am in the middle of an acute flare-up. (ie, tons of pain in the perineum and tip of the penis. I want to ball up and rock back and forth for 2 days now). I am taking T3 (codeine and Tylenol) and lorazepam. I've done hours worth of Dr. Wise tape. Some minor walking around in my apartment, as tha...

Re: Erection leads to flare-up

Ouch, to the topic above. I just need to vent this out somewhere. Seeing a new girl and she knows about my issues. We cuddled and made out for a long period of time. To the point where i was having some pain and then didn't want to have sex, because i know it would end with an even worse flair. At t...

Re: Best three weeks in years

Yes, I agree with Wise when he said, dont celebrate. But I never took that as dont be happy about it. Just take it all in perspective. You are going to backslide. It happens. But keep things up, and you will continue to move forward more than back. Plus, it helps you remember that things CAN be bett...
