Re: Cost of PT... What are people paying

$100 for 45 minutes, cash pay last year. Insurance starts paying this year, minus 10%.

My PT took pity earlier and charged me $42 for a 15 minute session but worked with me for an hour. That went on for months until she moved to a new employer.

Northwest US.

Re: Anyone with Gluten intolerance

Lots without both dairy and gluten, a real trick. Except they call their cookies "biscuits" :P
Wrong side of the pond, too bad.

Re: Disaster last night

Gary, there are people out there who have had this same problem who are now better and functioning again. There are lots who don't have CPPS and have had THAT problem and it went away. Even at my age, the ED I'm having right now is making me crazy too. It seems to be working fine, I'm up, then...not...

Re: No effective pain meds for pelvic pain (Dr Wise)

I started on Lyrica about a month ago. I took a couple weeks to work up to a good dose. I'm at 450/day now split into 3 doses. It's been really helpful. I got sick in October - fever and constipation that put me in the hospital. My rectal pain went off the charts. The Lyrica has taken care of most o...

Xanax is the only muscle relaxer I've found that helps. I'm just coming out of the relapse from hell, and I was up to 12 quarter mg pills a day. I'm down to 7-8 now. Benzo's have potential for tolerance and addiction, but I've been able to take them for short periods in higher doses and then get off...

I use a combination of acetyl-l-carnitine, nadh, magnesium, d-ribose, b-12 sublingual and coq10 for energy with my chronic fatigue syndrome. I don't know if it would work for you, but it doesn't seem to worsen my pain. 500-1000 acetyl l carnitine 20 nadh 100-200 magnesium 200 coq10 d-ribose is not t...

Welcome, sorry you had to have this problem though. There aren't as many of us older guys here. What are your symptoms?

I didn't think it helped me much. I'm trying Flexeril now.

My sphincter ani went nuts a couple weeks ago and I'm in extreme pain. I think maybe the relaxers help with the worst of it when the spasm is this bad, but when my pain was just 'normal', it didn't seem to have much impact.

This treatment says it is for proctalgia fugax, which I thought was different from CPPS. It consists of single short (to 20 minute) attacks of very strong pain, usually at night, only a few times a year for many people. My wife gets this occassionally. It isn't thought to be from trigger points, is ...

My rectal pain started toward the end of a bout of lymphocytic colitis last year. I lost almost 40 pounds from diarrhea in the 2 months before the pain started. I'm on other boards with people with colitis, and I've not heard of rectal problems being part of colitis. I think mine is just trigger poi...

I can't take ibuprofen, aspirin, etc because of colitis, so I'm on opiods too, unfortunately. It's hard to compare drugs, but I take 2 vicodin at a time with a total of 10mg of codeine. 30mg sounds huge. I don't get any sort of high from 10, just pain relief, and sometimes not enough. It's just my p...

I played with my TENs for months before I found the magic combination. My pain is rectal and on the left side. I put three pads down my sacrum, from the highest dimple to the crack, and the last pad off to the side. It now does control some pain, some times. Since I'm on pain meds, I can especially ...

I'm being treated for low testosterone. Finding a doctor who knew anything about it was a lot like looking for one who knew about CPPS. Hard to find. I finally went to a naturopath who specializes in hormone balancing. Just raising testosterone is only useful if levels of estrogen and other hormones...
