Saw my uro today. He suggested accupuncture, so I suggested physical therapy instead. He agreed and is going to find a therapist for me who specializes in the area. I've seen a lot of discussions here recently on muscle spasms, but does anyone have an idea on how successful treatment is? I also now ...

Have you tried Prelief and avoided spicy foods/caffeine/acidic foods?
I've been avoiding spicy foods/caffeine/acidic foods & drinks, although I have not tried Prelief. I think I should.

Thanks for the help, I really do appreciate it :-D

Hope everyone out there is coping.

What are your symptoms during your flare-ups (e.g. frequncy/spasms/pain)? My main symptom is pain and discomfort towards the tip of the penis. I also have muscle spasms in the perineum area (I guess this would be called pelvic floor spasms?). At times the perineum is very uncomfortable also. My pai...

Need advice...

Just thought I'd ask for some advice. Since my last post, where I felt 90% better, I flared. This seems to be my pattern. I go through a pattern where I feel a gradual improvement to a point, and then flare up again. Probably sounds familiar to most of you. I'm going to see my uro next week and need...

Walnuts

I've started to eat a lot of walnuts and have noticed a significant improvement in my symptoms. In fact there have been instances where I felt normal for a period of hours. I almost forgot what it felt like. It could be a coincidence, but I think the walnuts have something to do with it. There is a ...

Hi brycie, we're fellow Torontonians. I appreciate your upbeat attitude and suggestions. I could also see what you're getting at with your poll. However, I think for most sufferers, it's difficult to relax when they are feeling such an awful pain and discomfort. I don't see how someone could only th...

CP vs. Stricture?

The symptoms of a urethral stricture seem very close to the symptoms of CP/CPPS. I never had a cystoscopy, and I keep wondering whether my problems are due to a stricture. When I'm at my best, the last remaining symptom is always the burning towards the tip of the urethra. It sometimes feel like it'...

Anti-Inflammatory Drug - Mobicox (Meloxicam)

As mentioned in a prior post, I'm taking an anti-inflammatory drug called Mobicox (Meloxicam). My urologist prescribed it for 30 days, 1 per day. I'm feeling much improved these days, and I really don't know if I have this drug to thank. I also started taking Prosta-Q in this time (I was taking a ge...

Xatral is available in Canada also. I'm on it now. I don't think I've experienced the retrograde ejaculation, at least not severely. My urologist did warn me about it. It sounds like I would know if I did. Xatral definitely helps my urine flow. I haven't had any side effects, except for feeling a bi...

Thanks for the good summary of that. I'm on Xatral and have been interested in what the differences of a-blockers are. What did you mean by selective a-blockers having a higher risk of causing ejaculation problems. What kind of problems? Also, are their positive effects temporary? In other words, af...

Interesting....

However, IC doesn't seem any more treatable than CP/CPPS. How would I be better off knowing if I have IC vs. CP/CPPS? Are there any good treatments?

Thank you Dr. Dimitrakov and Mark for your insights.

Dr. Dimitrakov,

I don't think I have IC, because I don't have frequency and / or urgency to urinate. Isn't that the main symptom of IC?

Are there any ways that I can tell, based on my symptoms, which one I have?

Thank you

Levaquin is the only antibiotic that helped me, but my urologist took me off of it when I complained that my knees were hurting. I keep wondering whether I should have dealt with the knee pain for longer to see if levaquin would fully clear the prostatitis. Joint pain seems to be very common with le...

Are you saying that most do not fully recover, even for a temporary period? I don't think that's true.

Hi son gofish... I think quercetin (Prosta-Q) has helped a lot of the overall pain/discomfort that I had. Unfortunately, I'm still in this cycle where ejaculation aggravates my conditions. I can't really say that I'm close to cured, but the pain is much more manageable than it was. It gives me some ...
