When it all began...

Since reading AHIP I have been thinking more and more about my onset of symptoms (Aug. 2002). I had always been thinking that I must have got some kind of infection that started the cycle of pain. Now I realize that I had been tensing my pelvic muscles for years. And although I never had pain prior ...

Levaquin caused pain in my knees. My impression on levaquin is that it probably causes these kind of similar side effects with practically everyone who takes it long term. It probably causes side effects for short term use too, but it's not as severe and reported less. Once off of levaquin, I notice...

Just to add my 2 cents: 1. It's important psychologically to know that the problem is not in his penis. When you feel that awful burning it's hard to believe that the problem is not where you are feeling it. But it's referred pain. I found that it helped psychologically to know this, and eases the s...

I found the same information, and this is why I stongly suspect that Vioxx is what has caused a pericardial effusion in me. The scariest thing is that both the doctor who prescribed it to me and my family doctor do not think that vioxx has anything to do with it. As per their advice I should keep ta...

Thanks Mark. Any thoughts on whether the Vioxx I was taking caused the fluid around my heart (pericardial effusion)? It's not a large amount, but it did scare me. My family doctor thinks it's from a virus and thinks that with many viral infections people get some fluid around their heart. I have had...

I got referred to Dr. Jarvi, except I didn't actually ever see him. He sends CPPS patients to the clinic at Mt. Sinai. Unfortunately the person you will see seems very negative to me, which is not what you need. On the positive side he seems to be aware of many different available treatments (althou...

Incidentally, before the ultrasound I was on Vioxx for about a month. I've just been reading that Vioxx can cause heart problems. Does anyone think this may be what caused the fluid around my heart?

I don't think I typically have more stress or anxiety than a normal person. Other than when somebody is more or less telling me that I'm dying. I think it was normal for me to feel stress under that situation, and I don't want a drug that would prohibit me from feeling stress about such a serious th...

Ultrasound caused me unnecessary stress...

Hello all... I haven't really been posting much for a while. Actually I started to notice that reading posts added stress about my condition, which would often caused flares. But just to give you my update... Mostly my CPPS has been manageable over the last year, although I had a hard time towards t...

Oddly enough, I know exactly what you mean. At times when I feel my best, I feel a very specific point. It's so hard to explain, but reading your post, I know what you are talking about. Maybe it is possible??

I had the same side effects from levaquin. I believe that staying on it for an extended period may cause permanent damage to your joints. I know this may seem like a good trade, if it is helping your symptoms, but there may be other antibiotics that will help you in the same way. I'm not getting int...

my primary symptom over the first 10 months of having this wonderful disease was the burning at the tip of the penis that you are describing. It's maddening, and I sympathize with you. It is an odd thing that where you feel the pain, is not the source of the pain. What convinced me of this is when I...

Just to add my 2 cents: Since Uro's are still giving antibiotics as the answer...Even if a "Newbie" reads this entire forum, he still may think that HIS problem has bacterial roots. Let's face it, the average person will believe his doctor over an internet forum. There are also certain questions tha...

had a cystoscopy yesterday

I had a cystosctopy yesterday. I found it very painful and extremely uncomfortable. :boom: I'm still in pain/discomfort from it, but this should pass hopefully. The whole thing gives me the creeps. :paranoid: Everything looked normal. My uro is recommending acupuncture (he knows a uro that does it)....
