Re: Dat der flaring...

Yeah, I know. Two weeks only though. We still have to play the game a bit here.

Re: Dat der flaring...

Went to the doctor and got the usual Cipro, fluoxetine, and painkiller starter pack. He's writing a referral to my urologist, so I'll get any diagnostic work done fairly quickly to rule out or confirm any physical issues.

Re: Dat der flaring...

Well, not looking good, I'm afraid. It's only been a week, but symptoms have been pretty severe on a few days, with burning on urination and having to go twenty minutes later. Then again, it was pretty good yesterday and had been improving until today, so heaven knows. Off to the doctor on Monday, m...

Re: Dat der flaring...

And, as luck would have it, I'm having a nasty flare just now. Probably kicked off by the sinus infection I've been fighting.

Fingers crossed it's a short term one.

Re: Dat der flaring...

Usually a slight irritation in the urethra. When I flare - which always seems to coincide with getting a cold - it becomes a bit more noticeable and I pee every hour or so during the day and maybe twice at night. That's about it.

It doesn't stop me doing anything and life is very enjoyable again.

Re: Dat der flaring...

Sorry, don't visit often these days...

Bladder neck tightness was just a physiological quirk. Some men have it, some do not.

About 85% these days. Happy enough with that.

Re: Dat der flaring...

Quick check in. Generally about 80-85% most of the time, with the odd flare up. Things continue to gradually improve two and half years after this latest flare up and two years after surgery, so kind of like last time. It doesn't get in the way any more, and that's what counts. Keep fighting the goo...

Re: Dat der flaring...

Still gradually getting better. Mostly OK but can be annoying sometimes, although only for a few hours rather than the whole day. Had a great time in Wales and then Lanzarote, and off to do a mini triathlon this weekend up north in Fort William. Hopefully will continue to improve but doesn't stop me...

Re: Dat der flaring...

Just checking in. About 70-80% better these days, and continuing to improve. I get the odd bad day, but bad means 65% better than it was now. I'm going on a three day rugby tour booze up in February and then off to Lanzarote for a week with my wife at the month end. Life is pretty good most of the t...

Re: Dat der flaring...

Same old, same old. Gradual improvement - about 75% better these days, with month on month improvements. Been out and about and doing most things I enjoy again, including playing rugby for a social team.

Keep at it, guys. It sucks, but it usually improves with time and treatment.

Re: Dat der flaring...

So still gradually improving with the odd flare up that lasts a day or two and isn't that bad. Went on my cycling break and it was awesome. Had about one hour of moderate discomfort in the entire holiday. We're going back up there again in September. Life is pretty normal now. Slow going, but positi...

Re: Caught between two medic camps, your opinion?

What has been responsible for your 80% improvement? Do more of whatever that was.

Re: Dat der flaring...

So, yeah. Pretty much at 70% or better all the time now, the odd dodgy hour or so aside. Been out on long bike rides with my wife and out on the beer with friends again. We've planned a cycling break in July as I don't see any problems with this. I tend to go for a pee and get a slight bit of discom...

Re: Urethral Pain Cause/Treatment

My first time round it took 20 months total and 8 after surgery for the urethral pain/discomfort to become tolerable, and about two years for it to become good. Probably about three years for it to bugger off almost completely. This time round it's taken about 17 months to get to the tolerable stage...

Re: Dat der flaring...

Things continuing to improve. A bit of minor irritation after a pee (feels a bit damp) for five minutes or so followed by a bit of a swollen or tickly feeling in the urethra, which can fade about half the time after ten to twenty minutes. Pretty similar to last time really. I get the odd bad day, bu...
