Re: Anti-Anxiety and Anti-Depressant Med Question

Some SSRIs (Paxil, Lexapro) at high doses are good anti-anxiety agents. The dose is quite a lot higher than given for depression. To get this prescribed without a fight, you may have to see a psychiatrist to get someone up to speed on the latest views of how these drugs are used for anxiety control...

Re: General Question

If you are being driven nuts by the nuisance be thankful its a nuisance and stop being driven nuts. I love this sentence! Captures perfectly how we tend to take a relatively minor deal and start to worry about what happens if it gets worse, torturing ourselves in the process. I always find that WOR...

Re: Prosta-Q ?

I've never seen Prosta-Q in a retail setting. I use the Quercetin product from a company called NOW. But the Prosta-Q may be more helpful/potent.

Re: Do any of you do YOGA?/

I do yoga. I find it relaxing in the same way I would feel relaxed after a good workout, that tired but satisfied feeling. It may just be the yoga class I attend but I find it to be quite challenging and not relaxing in the same was as say, meditation, which is what I think many people associate yog...

Re: My story, just thankful I found this forum!

Hi there, Canbob. Just thought I'd chime in with what has helped me as you seem to be in a tough spot. Firstly, I found that doing the moment-to-moment relaxation as described in AHIP made a difference. For me this basically means reminding myself through the day to keep my pelvis relaxed (ie. drop ...

Re: L'Hermitte's Sign (chin to chest shock)?

Not a shock, but at times I've noticed tingling at the tip of my penis when I put my chin to my chest. The last time I had this (about a year ago) it went on for a month or so and 10mg of Elavil for a week got rid of it.

Re: No effective pain meds for pelvic pain (Dr Wise)

Meh, I think the tylenol/liver thing gets overstated sometimes. Although I agree that taking 4 grams a day long-term probably isn't a great thing, I'm not going to worry about taking it when I need to. As an IBD sufferer, tylenol-based drugs are my (and hundereds of thousands of others around the wo...

Re: not the Xmas present I wanted

Sorry to hear that calguy. I would stay away from any kind of strengthening exercises. I would bet that your abs and groin are plenty strong and they need stretching and relaxation, not strengthening. So yes you probably pushed things a bit too far and you are in a minor flare up. Just concentrate o...

Gary I hear something from you that I also tend to do. That is, I worry about the worst case scenario happening and how I would handle that scenario when it comes up. Over and over I've found that I've caused myself more stress worrying about what COULD happen, rather than from the current problem i...

How refreshing to have people discuss this controversial syndrome in an in-depth manner without resorting to flaming accusations and juvenile insults. And no deleted posts to boot! :-) And the arguments are made on the basis of logic, thoughtful deduction and documented scientific studies. Well done...

They work as a muscle relaxant, and stop any spasm that may be going on. You can probably find out more about this on the main site.
