Work and Health

I agree with what's been said about the poisonous work environment in the U.S. But based on my own observations of myself and other men I know with this condition (they include two attorneys and a pilot, as well as myself--a journalist), I would argue that men with CPPS do tend to be especially driv...

Recumbent Bicycles

Has anyone else had problems using a recubent bike? I was an avid cyclist until about a year ago, when CPPS flared up. I miss it and have held out hope that perhaps in the future I could get back to it by using a recumbent bike. Any advice/firsthand experience?

A great stretch

An Alexander technique expert showed me this stretch, and I really benefit from it. It's also very easy on your knees, for those people who have a hard time doing the conventional wall stretch. Lie on your back with your butt up against the wall and your legs going straight up the wall. Hold that po...

Aeron Chair--ugh

I had an Aeron chair for a couple of weeks and had to take it back. The reason: the frame that encircles the chair seat hurt the back of my legs. When I explained my reason for returning it, the salesperson said, "Yeah, it does that to me, too."

The Stanford tapes are great

I went through Dr. Wise's clinic last summer, and it was the smartest thing I could have done. Expensive--yes. In addition to the cost of the clinic, the related travel costs added up to an additional two thousand dollars for myself and my wife. But well worth it. For starters, I received treatment ...

Benefits of Walking

Prior to coming down with a raging case of CPPS last May, I was an avid bicyclist, and I really missed exercising. My PT, Tim Sawyer, strongly encouraged me to do something aerobic, so for the last several months, I've been walking--and loving it. My symptoms pretty much go away while I'm walking an...
