sorry to Duke: this doesn't contribute an answer but asks a supplementary question:

How long should a PT session ideally be? My London PT has sessions of either 30 or 45 minutes. For sheer financial reasons I'm trying to keep these to 30 mins, once a week. Is this a false economy?

Thanks..

Hi - I got a split seat from Tesco-shopping. It works fine - and, if anything, I felt better from the cycling. But don't overdo it. Also, if you get a seat like mine - i.e. a completely hornless saddle you have to be prepared for reduced stability. Having the horn between your legs, if you'll pardon...

I too, don't like drugs, natural or otherwise. Especially stuff that can play trick on my mind. My feeling is that my mind is already playing tricks on me, bringing sensations of pain to consciousness which I have no need to experience. The pain sets off a chain reaction, leading to more tensing an...

Thank you. I am amazed how pressing on this muscle (at the right side of my abdomen) with the Theracane produces instant, acute pain in my lower back. That, presumably referred, pain is worse than the pain in the muscle itself.

Hi - I took either 10 or 25 mg per night for several months. It very much helped both my sleep and my pain. However, I feel uncomfortable taking drugs for very long periods (I am mistrustful of all drugs!). With Elavil, I felt that if I stayed on it I would eventually have to increase the dosage bey...

Hi - I'm not the best qualified person on the forum to help you with this (despite being a 'senior veteran'!). But... I would like to say I think it's pretty amazing that you should speak up about being raped - It must be a horrible thing to come to terms with and I think you must be some kind of gu...

That's interesting. I've just seen an orthodontist who thinks I'm grinding my teeth. To my horror I noticed a few weeks ago that I've worn my upper front teeth quite flat. I expect it's part of the same picture of clenching. With regard to neurontin. I use it quite frequently, though not all the tim...

iliacus muscle

Hello - I'm experiencing pain in the iliacus muscle. I've tried doing a forum-search on it but it yielded no postings. Can anyone please give me any information on treating that muscle? Many thanks in advance for any advice. http://summit.stanford.edu/ourwork/PROJECTS/LUCY/lucywebsite/img/CA-655.jpg

which muscle?

I have a very sore spot just down a couple of inches down from my hip bone, on the front going towards my pubic bone, close but slightly above the very top of my leg. When I press on it, I get a very pronounced pain and another in my lower back. Can anyone please tell me what muscle this is. Many th...

Richard You're incredibly patient, kind, supportive and knowledgeable. I appreciate that and thank you for it. I'm slightly surprised you have an 'anniversary' day. Do people's symptoms come on so suddenly? And is there a chance you were suffering before but the pain wasn't conscious - i.e. you were...

5 hours does seem a long time. I believe you can wear these things and walk around running your multinational or peeling onions etc.

Thanks, Mike. I'll take it easier from now on. However, I'm not sure I'd recognise a trigger point if I found one.

Thanks for the advice. I guess, aside from the pain (which is bearable) it feels good in the way that a back-massage on a sore back hurts but in a 'pleasant' way. I was sure I'd read on this forum once before that the Theracane was good for working abdominal muscles but I could easily be mistaken. A...

Theracane as deadly weapon?

Hello - Lately I've been using my Theracane to dig deep into muscles in my abdomen. (check out the top-right of this page to see the thing - it looks a cross between a mediaeval torture instrument and something the plumber carries). The work is all external, pushing the Theracane into my stomach. I ...

There are a lot of relaxation CDs available - none that I know of, specifically geared to pelvic relaxation. Unless anyone here offers a good suggestion I reckon you have to take your pick and possibly shop around until you find one that suits.

Good luck - you're on the right track..
