Re: Tanezumab
Update: The Tanezumab trial I linked to above has been suspended (along with many others). That seems unfortunate.

Tanezumab
Tanezumab (experimental drug not yet FDA approved) has been mentioned on this forum a few times. Most recently, there was a study (see bottom) that showed that it reduced IC symptoms. I read this article today: http://www.technologyreview.com/biomedicine/26406/page1/ A new class of pain relievers th...

Re: Sacral Neuromodulation Effective for BPS/IC
Question: is a "sacral neuromodulator" just a medicalized way of achieving the same thing that trigger point massage and conscious relaxation can achieve? Probably different, although no one knows exactly why sacral neuromodulation works. The most common hypothesis is that it interferes w...

Re: Buffington: "A Watershed Year for Interstitial Cystitis"
Thanks Webslave/gmccormack. Not too much in the article we weren't already aware of, but I agree that there has been an encouraging paradigm shift in recent years about the way IC/CPPS is viewed.

Here's are some quotes from a recent review article by Anthony Schaeffer of U Chicago on CPPS/IC. He's a well-known clinician who wrote a 2006 review on CPPS in the New England Journal of Medicine. Genitourinary pain syndromes, prostatitis, and lower urinary tract symptoms. Le BV, Schaeffer AJ. Depa...
