Re: My story (kovacs)

I had a cystoscopy today. It was so painful that they had to cut the procedure short. But they did observe lesions in the bladder lining, so I have been diagnosed with Bladder Pain Syndrome (interstitial cystisis). I'm up for a follow-up procedure in a few weeks - I didn't quite catch what they are ...

Re: New and would like some questions answered

Not necessarily. Our body is designed to not wake up at night to urinate. So even having to get up once is a symptom if it's a regular thing.

I wake up twice every night, like clockwork, at 2:30am and 5:00 am. Every single night. If I sleep in I also wake up at 7:30...

Maybe your meds are helping?

Re: Odd glans penis pain/ CPPS? (Alphalifestyle)

My main symptom is really inflammation in my bladder and urethra and a inflamed feeling in the anus, pelvic region and legs, probably caused by the cystitis... After a lot of physical therapy I eventually got rid of most of my "regular" pelvic pain symptoms this summer (it took two years). But only...

Re: My story (kovacs)

After a few very good days, with diminishing pain, I problems started again yesterday. Had 2-3 episodes in the middle of the night before yesterday when I couldn't urinate at all. Every time it felt like the flow was starting, I got excruciating pain around the urethra/perineum which made it impossi...

Re: New and would like some questions answered

Hey discodan,

sorry to hear about your problematic prostate. But at least you have a diagnostic find! I have yet, after years of pain, to get a clear diagnosis.

I also suffer from BPH-like symptoms.

Good luck!

Re: My story (kovacs)

Just updating my status. Over the past few weeks my situation has become much worse. I have had 3-4 acute urinary retention episodes every week, requiring self catheterization. Since this is very new to me, I struggle to succeed with it and it can take 3-4 attempts over 60-90 minutes to "get through...

Re: My story (kovacs)

So another update. I've been on the IC diet for 38 days. I also restarted Flomax (tamsulosin) after talking to a urologist. Last week I learned how to do self catheterization since I have occasional trouble with retention. Here is where I am: pelvic pain just increased for the first few weeks. No ap...

Re: Who else has body wide stiffness/muscle pain?

I have struggled with "moving pain" in my body for years, and lots of stiffness and strange aches. A lot of it disappeared when I went completely gluten free three years ago. But I still had a lot of back/shoulder and hip/leg pain. From January to May this year I saw an osteopath 4-6 times per month...

Re: My story (kovacs)

Yes, I'm already doing most on that list. :) It's just a bit overwhelming right now, I think I'm in the middle of a bad flare-up and this week has been hell.

Re: My story (kovacs)

I have now been on the IC diet for almost a month. Basically it's no coffee, no tea, no beer/soda/wine (but whiskey is okay ;) ). No spicy food, no acidic food or drink, no chocolate, no onions, avoid lots of preservatives etc. Since I'm already on the low FODMAP (plus gluten free) diet due to IBS (...

Re: Proctalgia Fugax (fleeting anal pain or spasm)

I have had this quite a lot lately. It is mostly felt while moving but I can also get it while sitting down. It's like flashes of pain in the rectum. Combined with pain in the perineum it's forcing me to stay in bed with a heat pad most evenings now. Taking tramadol eases it a little bit. It's usual...

Re: My story (kovacs)

My insurance company set me up with a urologist today. It turned out to be the same one I mentioned above who suggested overactive bladder. I discussed my situation with him, and he asked a lot of questions about pain and other symptoms. He did some tests (checked prostate, looked at the bladder wit...

My story (kovacs)

I am new here, be gentle... I am 44 years old, male, live in Norway. Five years ago I was in fantastic shape. I was an avid road cyclist. In 2010 I trained for and finished a 540 km bike race. In both 2011 and 2012 I finished a 430 km race over three mountains. Now I can't cycle - or even exercise m...
