Re: AUA 2009: Memantine

I recently read about Dr. Dimitrakov's work using memantine for CPPS. The posts on the forum only list information from 2009/2010. Is there any followup information about the use of memantine for CPPS? Specially for me, I have neuropathic pain in my pelvis. Will this help?

Re: Shock Wave Therapy May Ease CPPS

Dr. Dimitrakov, how does this compare to the neuromodulation you used in Bulgaria? Hope you are doing well, Latte.

Re: New drug combo for IC/PBS

Hope it works for some of his IC patients but when I went to him he gave me the heparin/anesthetic via catheter and it did nothing at all for me. When you go to Dr. Parsons you get Atarax/elmiron and heparin instillations no matter what your symptoms are. That's his program and this "new" ...

Re: ALFUZOSIN VS. PLACEBO

I took Flomax for a couple years and it did help with the voiding symptoms but not with the pain. I could pee better which helped. I was surprised to find that after I discontinued the Flomax it was hard to pee for a short while but then I seemed to be back to normal. It had a minimally positive eff...

feeling good

Worst pain started in August 2001. Went the usual route to five uros, world experts in fact. Did the SP last fall and continued with 30 PT sessions and doing Dr. Wise's tapes. Felt about 50% better after about five months of the SP. Now feel pretty good and some days don't think about it at all. Don...

If you don't want to go to Stanford I found a PT in Mission Viejo at West Coast Physical Therapy. Her name is Mary Cox and is listed in the PT referral section of the forum. I am going to Stanford because I want a thorough evaluation. She told me that she has done only one man and usually works on w...

I live in Southern California. It does get cool in the winter but the spring/fall/summer are always pretty warm.

Interestingly, my symptoms are the same no matter what month it is. I have seen no difference between warm or cold times of the year.

Yes, it is an low level electrical stimulation method. They put a probe into your rectum and it pulses a mild electric shock to the muscles in the pelvic area. I did it last year and it helped temporarily. It is not painful.

This is by far the most impressive list of studies to be undertaken to date IMHO. No more beating around the bush and no more bullsh*t. These studies finally get down to the neurology associated with IC/CPPS. With several theories abounding there will be, I hope, a convergence to a generally accepte...

I did six sessions of biofeedback. When I started I was skeptical but there was more to it than I thought. They put a electric probe in your butt which is hooked up to a monitor and probes on your abdomin. They ask you to squeeze your sphincter and relax without using your abs. You can see the diffe...

Very interesting topic. If you don't mind me asking, where do Botox injections fit into this treatment plan. Is it be too experimental at this time?

re: list

A few more ideas for you. Prednisone has helped me a bit so you can include that with the immunosuppresants. Tylenol with codeine has actually helped a quit a bit. I'll let you know if I come up with anymore.
