Re: Starting pelvic treatment after 4 and a half years

trigger-pts-therawand.jpg Hi there! Just a quick follow up. It was the pastilles, I haven't had any of that sort of burning again. And a follow up to my post about techniques/tools that are easier on the hands. I bought a pelviwand (a therawand) as recommended by my physio - it's much longer than t...

You may find a Theracane, with its greater leverage, is easier to use.
Thanks a lot, webslave! I'll email my physio to run it by him

Techniques that are easier on the hands?

Hi everyone. I've been doing physio for pelvic pain on and off for a few months with some success at times. One of the problems I have is pain in the joints in my hands and I find internal wand stretches/trigger pointing is aggravating that pain. I'm a musician so it's quite discouraging and I'm won...

Re: My story 6 months in - input appreciated

Thoughts appreciated, particularly on whether inflammation of testes when viewed under ultrasound is normal for CPPS. Haven't heard that much, but keep in mind that CPPS-IC can result in nerve-mediated inflammation of any area of the lower genitourinary tract, in my experience running this forum. B...

Re: Starting pelvic treatment after 4 and a half years

If you get into a complete hole with CPPS, flaring to the point where you life is heavily affected, I'd suggest strong painkillers like Tramadol. Your MD will prescribe, and if not, go to another. Take for a couple of weeks only, and by then the flare may have settled. Rest, calmness, meditation, h...

Re: Starting pelvic treatment after 4 and a half years

Also one last thing - when I'm lying down the pressure on my lower back seems to cause pain in my urethra at times.

Re: Starting pelvic treatment after 4 and a half years

I'm not in favor of using lots of pressure in the prostate area. Some of my very worst flares were after a MD pressed hard on my prostate. If you press hard there, you could be doing two things: Giving the trigger points in the anterior levator ani a huge wake-up call, and/or Causing tiny breaks in...

Re: Starting pelvic treatment after 4 and a half years

I still find all of this confusing and quite crazy that muscles are to blame for the hell I've experienced. Careful, it's not only muscles! This is a psychoneuromuscular condition. I'll bear that in mind. I usually don't come back so soon but I'm having some horrendous burning/penis pain, the type ...

Re: Starting pelvic treatment after 4 and a half years

Thanks for your response. I can afford treatment for now, but my income will soon be very limited due to chronic fatigue syndrome. I also have to travel quite far to see Gerard and it takes it out of me, so my ultimate goal is to be able to treat myself. I can only really afford to see Gerard about ...

Re: Starting pelvic treatment after 4 and a half years

Stay with the stretches, at a pace that does not cause too many problems. Hi Webslave, I don't know if you saw my last comment but I thought I'd give another update and also ask your opinion on something. So for the most part, 2-3 times a week I've been doing the internal stretches with the wand fo...

Re: Starting pelvic treatment after 4 and a half years

An update for everyone: I've started seeing Gerrard Greene in Birmingham. He charges less than half of Karl's appointment fee, and with him being much closer to me, including travel, it costs me about a third of the cost to see him compared to Karl. He's been/being tutored by Ruth Jones who I think ...

Re: Starting pelvic treatment after 4 and a half years

Very interesting about gluten. This really is a very complicated mess! So you think I should stick with these same stretches? I was thinking about maybe doing them every other day or something. I get the impression my muscles are pretty wound up and that I should maybe ease myself into this routine....

Don't give up on the stretches or looking for trigger points, both are a very big part in dealing/beating this!
Thanks a lot for the encouragement, really appreciate it!

So how are your symptoms now?

Re: Starting pelvic treatment after 4 and a half years

Webslave, glad to hear you've also recovered from the CFS, did you employ any techniques to get better or was it just time that did it for you? I'm currently attending a fatigue clinic. I honestly can't picture what life would be like without these conditions now. 5 years of pelvic pain and 3 years ...

Re: Starting pelvic treatment after 4 and a half years

There are some things I already do and some I don't, but think may help. What things from the book do you already do, out of interest? This is the forum post I found where someone says they used Isa Herrera's protocol Unfortunately there aren't any trained PT's here so any work I did in that arena ...
