Re: Restore Motion in Maryland
Not sure about Restore, but I highly recommend Bethesda Physiocare (Jan Dommerholt). They definitely know a lot about CPPS.

Re: Transperineal ultrasonic therapy
It's been helping. I went off of it for a long time and it seems like that made me worse.

Re: Transperineal ultrasonic therapy
Here's the one I used:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ULTRASONIC-ULTR ... 1e5e93664e
I just use it on the perineum/over the sphincter. It seemed to reduce my pain somewhat when I used it on a regular basis.

Re: Transperineal ultrasonic therapy
This is a very interesting study. I've had good results in deactivating TrPs using ultrasound wand purchased for $25 on eBay. I'd recommend it to others. Here's an interesting article on US and TrPs: http://www.webmd.com/fitness-exercise/news/20000228/muscles-ultrasound-treatment?redirect=/content/a...

Re: Looking for a uro in LA area
Not sure if a uro is the best person to be asking regarding whether your pelvic floor is tense. I'd recommend visiting the USC Pelvic Pain Clinic. Talk to Dan Kirages -- he's great and totally gets all of this.

Re: Looking for a uro in LA area
Unfortunately I don't think there are many uros in LA who are familiar with CPPS. In SF I'd recommend Dr. Weiss.

Re: The Coming Debate Over Treatment
Snowbro, your case is very much like mine. Mine started with bacterial prostatitis along with epididimo-orchitis that resolved only to take on a life of its own after successful antibiotic treatment. You are NOT alone.

Re: Looking for a urologist in Cincinnati
Thanks Superuse and Critthinker for your replies. Yes, I am leaning toward the PT side of the house. I am only seeing my urologist to rule out cancer (which he has ruled out). Regarding Cleveland Clinic: Do they have anyone there that is trained on Trigger Point Release (because it feels like that ...

Re: Looking for a urologist in Cincinnati
I'd recommend visiting Dr. Shoskes to: 1) rule out cancer or any other more serious conditions 2) do a DRE and obtain an EPS to run a culture on (his culturing seems to be especially rigorous) 3) have a TRUS done 4) put you on medication as needed You should also check out the pain management docs a...

You have to do it consistently for at least a month or two to expect to notice any difference.
Also, do you feel pain ON bowel movements or just after? Trying to figure out if you should be drinking more water, eating more fiber.

I noticed this article on mast cells: http://www.modernmedicine.com/modernmedicine/Modern+Medicine+Now/Antihistamines-may-play-role-in-treating-chronic-p/ArticleStandard/Article/detail/685932 The penultimate paragraph is interesting: Could clinicians successfully treat CP/CPPS empirically with a com...

It's three hours of time with Fetske. She's wonderful, and she'll keep in touch with you and answer any questions you might have. I think this is a tough decision for you that will mostly come down to how important financial considerations are. You have airfare, W-A clinic costs, ground transportati...
