Re: Pain in Urodyamics - Tight External Sphincter?

Just an update, I have recently switched from Lexparo (SSRI) to the Cymbalta (SNRI). No evidence yet if it is helping. I have taken the Uroxatral for 4.5 months - no help from that. Neither Prosta-Q nor pollen has helped either. I continue with PT, but am not good at doing the exercises at home. I j...

Re: Pain in Urodyamics - Tight External Sphincter?

To stop the muscles from tightening on their own, I am thinking about trying baclofen. What kind of doctor (i.e., specialty) would be experienced with prescribing this medicine?

Looking for Advice on Next Steps

I have posted my symptoms before, but I have an update and now I am looking for general advice on next steps. Just to review/recap, I am a 35-year old man and it has been about 17 months since my supra-pubic pain/discomfort began. When it happens it feels like pain/pressure/burning - fortunately I c...

Re: Pain in Urodyamics - Tight External Sphincter?

Thanks, freddyj. I just read the background of your story, and interestingly I had similar experiences before my problem started. In the months before everything flared up, I remember noticing that when straining to have a BM, some urine would come out. And, the urine was being pushed out as opposed...

Re: Pain in Urodyamics - Tight External Sphincter?

Thanks! Any other thoughts? Any sense from the Forum which is the best alpha blocker for relaxing sphincter (i.e., most effective, fewest side effects)? My guess is its Uroxatral, but that is just based on my own limited research.

Pain in Urodyamics - Tight External Sphincter?

I have had supra pubic pain for about 12 months. I urinate more frequency than normal and in smaller amounts (according to my urologist and my voiding diary), but not wildly out of bounds (maybe urinate five times per day, averaging eight ounces when I first wake up and five ounces during the day af...

Prosta-Q and SSRIs

I had been (and am still) taking 20 mg of Lexapro per day. I just started taking Prosta-Q, two tablets per day. I was just reading that quercetin (the main ingredient in Prosta-Q() is "a potent inhibitor of CYP3A4 and CYP2C9," "enzymes that break down most drugs in the body." http://en.wikipedia.org...

Need Urologist and PT in Washington, DC Area

Can anyone recomend a urologist and a physical therapist who are familiar with treating chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CPPS) in men in the Washington, District of Columbia (DC) metro area? Thanks.
