Re: No pain - just constant sensation of needing to urinate

These are pretty much also the symptoms that I've had. Physical Therapy, daily stretching, and trigger point release all helped relieve my symptoms. I was symptom free for 7 months after doing those things regularly. After my symptoms went away, though, I got lazy and stopped doing them daily, and n...

Re: Vegetarians and UCPPS and food combining?

I've been vegetarian for about 13 years, 12 years before I started having UCPPS symptoms.

I think I developed symptoms because I was prescribed Adderall (amphetamine) for ADD and was on it for a year, rather than any dietary reason.

Re: ERECTION PAIN/MARRIAGE SOON

Have you tried Elavil yet?

It is used to treat both CPPS and TMJ.

I have both as well, and Elavil seems to be helping. I sleep better, and if I wake up, I'm able to fall asleep more easily.

Re: General prostatitis questions please reply

Working on my lower stomach with skin rolling and using a Theracane to apply pressure to sore spots helps my symptoms greatly.

Re: Alphablockers, do they make me sleepy?

Maybe you misunderstood my post. I am doing paradoxical relaxation. I am doing daily stretching. I am seeing a PT every two weeks. I am doing self TP release, internal and external. I was doing all that and still had pain after ejaculation. As soon as I started taking alfuzosin, I stopped having pai...

Re: Alphablockers, do they make me sleepy?

My symptoms also returned when I stopped using alfuzosin (Uroxatrol). Yes, it is a muscle issue, and can be treated without medication, but for me it would take much, much longer. The alfuzosin makes it easier and allows me to have sex without fear of pain while I take care of trigger points, flexib...

Re: Alphablockers, do they make me sleepy?

I didn't have to wait 3 months to feel the effects of Alfuzosin, but I do seem to get better the longer I take it.

I only take it every other day now, though, because it was making me a little dizzy and I would get headaches.

Re: Having trouble finding my trigger points (Manick's Case)

The stretches and duration are probably fine.

I think the worst thing is any "tightening" of the abs.

Honestly, if you have another option, I would not spend anymore time with a PT who is not familiar with CPPS.

Re: Having trouble finding my trigger points (Manick's Case)

Definitely seek another PT if things don't improve. If she admits that she isn't familiar with CPPS, and hasn't read HITP, I think it could be dangerous for her to try and advise you what to do. Again, your abdominal muscles may be weak and "nonexistant" but to strengthen/tighten them at this point ...

Re: Having trouble finding my trigger points (Manick's Case)

Manick, I'm not sure you read my reply since your last response seems mostly directed toward what Jay said and didn't reference anything that I wrote. It's my opinion that at this stage of your symptoms you shouldn't be doing any "tightening" or strengthening of your abs. It sounds like your PT does...

Re: Alphablockers, do they make me sleepy?

Alfuzosin = Uroxatral I have tried both tamsulosin (Flomax) and alfuzosin (Uroxatral). Alfuzosin is much more effective for me. It doesn't help with my frequency symptoms, but prevents me from having post-ejaculation pain. The first week or so that I took alfuzosin I was kind of out of sorts, feelin...

Re: Having trouble finding my trigger points (Manick's Case)

I was told by my PT that I shouldn't be "strengthening" my muscles until I've stretched enough to "lengthen" them and get the symptoms under control. If you strengthen the abs before the muscles have lengthened, that will make the symptoms worse. She also never told me to "tighten" my abs while I do...

I prefer a magnesium supplement to keep me regular rather than a fiber supplement. It works much better for me than fiber. Anyone with problems with regularity should give it a try.

Re: Ultrasound Therapy

My PT did some ultrasound therapy on my lower left abdomen which is usually a trouble spot as far as trigger points. If anything, my symptoms are worse today :( My PT also mentioned that in her experience people with CPPS tend to have symptoms worsened with ultrasound therapy. Pagesoftime, you didn'...
