Re: New Jersey Urologist
I am currently seeing Dr. Robert Moldwin at LIJ on Long Island. He's great, but very busy and hard to get follow-ups with. I was also very pleased with Dr. Matthew Rutman out of Columbia Univeristy in New York City. He is a urologist and very versed in CPPS. I have not found any urologists that matc...

Re: Dr Shoskes takes colleagues to task
I'd be curious as to what the "average urologist's" opinion on this article would be. I think I read somewhere that "prostatitis" accounts for 50% of a urologist's business.

Re: Physical Therapist - Central NJ
She was helpful and knowledgeable, and what she did alleviated my urinary symptoms but did nothing to alleviate the sitting pain. I have since relied on self PT.

Re: What kind of doctor(s) are you using to manage your care?
I've only seen her once so far. Her philosophy is to teach patients self care so they don't return. I'm still working it out with my insurance to see if I can get any reimbursement at all to soften the blow. I have seen 3 other qualified PT's in my area without sustained relief.

$650 for the first visit and $300 for subsequent. No insurance taken; pay up front.
No maps, but she does give you a wand.

Dr. Moldwin is who I see on Long Island. My PM&R doctor is Dr. Angela Ryan in Englewood, NJ. I have seen several PT in the NY/NJ area, most recently Marylin Freedman.

Re: What kind of doctor(s) are you using to manage your care?
I'm in Northern New Jersey. I have seen 4 urologists until I found one who truly understood this (he's on Long Island, NY). The PM&R doc in in NJ. I have also seen 2 chiropractors, an acupuncturist, an osteopathic physician, a GI guy, and a neurologist prior. (All of whom were no help.)

What kind of doctor(s) are you using to manage your care?
I'm just curious as to what kind of doctors many of you are seeing to manage your care. While I see my GP/Internist for check ups, I primary see a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) doctor who has a sub-specialty in pain management. I also see a urologist, but I defer to the PM&R do...

Re: Dr. Moldwin's "4 Step" Protocol for CPPS
I always find that exercise makes me feel better. I am a big swimmer (3-4 times a week) and that always helps. I cross train with some light lifting (for toning, not for muscle mass gain) and light running. All exercise is always followed by at least 15 min. of good pelvic and lower body stretched f...

Even at very low doses like .5 or 1 mg?
I plan on finishing the 4 weeks then tapering.

Re: Dr. Moldwin's "4 Step" Protocol for CPPS
As a follow up; I've been on the protocol for a week and a half. (I've had PT all along along with many other changes for the past 15 months, but the low-level valium is the new part.) I've been taking 1 mg Valium 3 x a day. My discomfort has decrease significantly and I've been able to cut my Trama...
