Re: Alcohol

If you are having a flare-up, you will want to cut out the alcohol.

Interestingly enough, for me, wine does not typically cause a problem.

Beer on the other hand, will cause me to be up all night urinating

Re: What to try next?

I can understand you frustration: I am at my wits' end with this as well. I even went in for a colonoscopy on Friday, just to make sure there was nothing wrong with my colon: everything checked out fine--not even a polyp. So now I have had 1. A cystoscopy 2. Urine retention tests (ultrasounds basica...

Re: Does anyone here have symptoms like this? (Silas1066)

I actually have to go in for a colonoscopy tomorrow: not so much for this, but because I have a family history of colon cancer, so I get screened every 5 years. I'm always nervous before these tests, so it might be affecting my muscle spasms. The GI doc mentioned that some men have problems with the...

This is strange

In addition to testicular pain (dull ache basically), I have also found that my left testicle is "riding high", up very tight. Doesn't seem to want to come back down again, and it is creating an awkward feeling when I sit down.

Anyone else experience this?

Re: No diagnosis yet. Need Help.

You sound a lot like me: once you start obsessing about some health issue (HIV, cancer, ALS, etc.) you can't relax the mind. This is a big problem for both of us, and contributes to our urinary/pelvic issues. I am freaked out right now about colon cancer (even though I am 39, and really don't have m...

Re: PBNO (Primary Bladder Neck Obstruction)?

I was diagnosed with Primary Bladder Neck Obstruction last year, after having a cytoscopy and several other tests (urine retention, etc.) The urologist told me that the red flag for this was the fact that I had been urinating frequently since my early 20s (I am 39 now). Only when I hit age 32 did it...

Re: No diagnosis yet. Need Help.

I get this as well: flare ups in which I can't stop urinating. Usually, something sets it off: diet soda, beer, who knows? It is all part of the overall CPPS syndrome, and I've been to doctors and urologists about it. Alpha blockers help ease the flare ups (Flomax, etc.), and staying away from caffe...

Well this is fun ...

Doctor put me on Nitroglycerin ointment for spasms (I apply the ointment to the rectal area)

Not sure if it is helping, but it does give me splitting headaches that go on for hours on end. Wondering what is worse right now, the CPPS symptoms or the headaches!

Re: Self-Treatment: Resources and Routine

I've wondered about this as well I've never been diagnosed with CPPS, but I have virtually all of the symptoms, and it has been going on for years. In order to go to some kind of clinic or PT place, I need a diagnosis--but virtually no doctor is going to give me one (yet). CPPS is poorly understood ...

Nitroglycerin ointment

Went back to the doctor yesterday--my main issue right now is rectal (and probably bladder) spasms. Levator-Ani Syndrome stuff.

He gave me a Nitroglycerin ointment to use: has anyone here tried this?

Golf ball in butt?

I hear a number of CPPS and levator ani sufferers talk about the golf-ball in the butt feeling. Not sure if this is what I am experiencing or not ... To be specific: there seems to be excessive tension and tightness in last 2 inches of the rectum, as if it is trying to hold something in. Sometimes i...

Re: Pain with sitting?

I am having virtually the same symptoms you list. Interestingly enough, I developed CPPS in 2002, when I was working as a IT worker/desk jockey. Then I went back to graduate school for 3 years, in which I spent most of my time on my feet teaching--and during that time had almost no problems. Now I a...

Re: Spasms down low--Levator Ani ?

I'm not sure what stretches I should be doing: can you point me in the right direction? A link? Book?

I try to relax, but this really stresses me out. I sit all day long at work, and I'm sure this isn't helping matters.

I woke up with some discomfort in the perineum last night.
