Re: New Here: Could I have typical CPPS?

Horrible history of antibiotic abuse for their anti-inflammatory effects. Readers take note how bad antibiotic abuse can be in CPPS: a year taking vibramycin! The episode at 24 may or may not have resulted in an infection; it's just speculation at this point. But it did cause your symptom...

Re: Do I have CPPS? What Caused it?

Weird pelvic aches and pains, post-ejaculatory discomfort, changes in appearance of penis (nerve related), discomfort in distal urethra, dysuria, sitting discomfort = CPPS. Pretty open and shut. Welcome to the forum. Medical treatments and findings are all unremarkable and largely irrelevant given y...

Magnesium is a well known aperient. That's what's doing it.

Re: New Here - 6 Months of Prostatitis - Feel Hopeless

Another symptom I have, which is really odd, is a 'hot' feeling during and after bowel movements in the rectum. Stools are also a bit more loose, though I am consuming a lot of fiber. Could be IBS, which is frequently comorbid with CPPS (i.e. occurs at the same time). Does anyone in your family hav...

Re: Suffering for 7 years, need help.

400mg quercetin a day would be best in your case, amitriptyline start at 5mg a day and work up to 70mg a day over time (5mg/day for a week, 10mg for a week etc). This is only an advisory, speak to a doctor.

Re: Food Intolerances / IBS and probiotics

I should have updated this thread some time ago. I developed a lactose intolerance and could no longer take the Yakult and Kefir mentioned above, and the improvements vanished. On the plus side, I discovered that quercetin is even more effective at removing IBS symptoms! http://www.chronicprostatiti...

Re: Probiotics for IC

Thanks for bringing that to my attention — I need to alter that post. The probiotics did give me a temporary boost in intestinal health, but later I found that I could not use the Yakult and kefir due to a lactose intolerance ... and then the good effects tailed off as my bowels adjusted to the new ...

Re: Probiotics for IC

I was not particularly helped by probiotics, unfortunately. But if you've taken extensive courses of antibiotics, they are a good idea (restores the intestinal flora). Your reactivity to acidic/caffeine/gluten foods is fairly typical of IC-spectrum UCPPS patients.

Re: New Here - 6 Months of Prostatitis - Feel Hopeless

Why should it be weird? They are used for the anti-inflammatory rather than antibacterial effects in some conditions. But that has to stop; we are facing a disaster as they become less and less effective as antimicrobials.

Re: Ashwagandha root!!!

Flares happen, regardless of whether you are taking quercetin or not. Multivitamins can cause flares, that's why Farr Labs makes a special low-acid vitamin formulation.

Re: New Here - 6 Months of Prostatitis - Feel Hopeless

There are many ways the syndrome affects people; your symptoms are fairly common. Dysuria and bladder-centred symptoms point to an IC-flavored condition, so to speak. The strategies for curing yourself are the same.

Re: New Here - 6 Months of Prostatitis - Feel Hopeless

Wow, very typical patient: early 30s, stressed out, sitting job, weightlifting with lots of squats, anti-inflammatory doxy course, going from uro to uro ... can't make this stuff up! Welcome and know you are in the right place. Answers: Yes and no, overtraining and overstressing of pelvic floor musc...

Re: Ashwagandha root!!!

I hope I haven't made the quercetin redundant and ineffective for good now?
That cannot happen, never seen it.
