Dr. Bart Gershbein (Stanford Clinic, Greenbrae, CA)

I attended the Stanford Clinic and must say that though expensive it was a good experience as far as Tim Sawyer and Dr. Wise were concerned. However, in regards to DR BART GERSHBEIN (one of three urologists seen prior to the Stanford Clinic) it was a nightmare!!! While at his office, I had a veso-ve...

PT for tightness?

Hey All, So my internal muscles are NOT jacked w/ trigger points now, those went away in initial month of PT but the anterior levators tighten up something awful. I can go in w/ a tool EVERYday, hold light pressure until it all loosens up and the next day they're tight again despite dailey relaxatio...

Re: Muscle group?

Are the pains it causes(into abs, penis tip, etc) typical pain for you when you're symptomatic? If not, you're probably pressing a nerve. If you can feel the tissue physically loosen and relax w/ constant light but consistent pressure, it's probably muscle, if it just hurts, probably not.

Re: Is PT necessary?

I've tried acupuncture, visualization relaxation, alternative medicine natural remedies, heat therapy, amongst others. Basically a typical day for me consists of a hot bath, an hour of paradoxical relaxation, PT (every 3 days), half hour of cardio, 3 sessions of stretching, and a constant attempt at...

Is PT necessary?

I have received weekly PT for 5 months with very little if any progress. I took time off from work to heal and have been doing relaxation but really things haven't changed. I can erase my symptoms after PT myself or w/ a physical therapist but a day later, I'm tight again. The PT I'm seeing seems to...

Re: To Kegel or not to Kegel

Yeah I actually talked to Dr.Wise today and he told me his stance. Still I have to think it does make some sense that even though w/ our problem our tone is increased but our muscle strength is weak and function impaired. Guess I'll just try it out and back off if things regress noticeably. Calguy, ...

To Kegel or not to Kegel

Got a controversial and tough question, Has anyone done Kegel exercises frequently enough to have experienced noticibly attributive effects either for better or worse? My question lies in the fact that I started seeing a PT in Michigan who specializes in internal Pelvic floor therapy and has for alm...

Re: Trouble Reaching Trigger Points

using the purple tool called something like "slender g-spot" which is a 7" vibrator (i don't use batteries in it;) I've been able to get to things no PT can reach and deactivate them. However, they still keep coming back after over a month of treatment. Possibly because I still hold tension or becau...

Re: Do internal tools need a flared base?

I've had a lot of luck w/ the second purple 7" one. It has a bent tip which is perfect to hit leverage into trigger points. As suggested above you should do something to be able to tell where the tip is pointing, for myself I used a kitchen knife to etch a line at the bottom where I hold it that lin...

Re: Trouble Reaching Trigger Points

Tim Sawyer was the only 1 of the 3 PTs I've seen who could get up there and even after PT I can use my own implement, the 7" tool posted on a forum on this site to find the real points of pain up in the front. Even past the muscle there is connective tissue that can get constricted. I've been workin...

Re: For single guys or wifes that can't attend sessions

If you have high points of pain (referred to as trigger points) in any direction you'll need a tool unless you have huge hands and a small pelvis. Doesn't give you the "feedback" so to speak that using a finger does. But some points are simply unreachable no matter how limber or determined you are a...

2 long sessions at 45 mins or so a day. I always try to be conscious of tension holding down there and be accepting of the pain, given I'm sure I tighten up from time to time but it's an all day job for me really.

Pain w/out Trigger Points

Initially I had trigger points which then just became tender areas which are now more or less resolved. Yet I still have burning in my Lavator ani muscles, especially w/ sitting and urgency/frequency. After PT, which is now just stretching out the muscles internally w/ little if any pain, I feel goo...
