Re: New clinical trial of anti-NGF antibody

Thank you Dr Shoskes for your postings. Can you please help with the following queries? a) I have been having sub acute thyroditis since June and have been put on prednisone. I wanted to participate in the clinical trial but have been turned down because I need to be off from prednisone for at least...

Re: AUA 2009: Memantine

Thank you Dr Dimitrakov for your efforts. What is the next step. I do not understand the process that happens from the point when a drug has been identified to be useful in a particular ailment to it becoming mainstream in the management of the ailment. Can you please throw some light on this issue?...

Re: Adrenocortical Hormone Abnormalities in Men with CP/CPPS

Thanks Dr Dimitrakov. I actually meant the testing described in your paper. Not the disease itself. Testing would have at least given some idea on why I (and maybe others) are not able to progress much despite practising SP (as sincerely as possible) and trying out supplements / having allergy free ...

Re: Adrenocortical Hormone Abnormalities in Men with CP/CPPS

I wonder if anyone else on the board has been made ANY progress in getting the testing done in line with that described in the paper. As posted earlier - the docs that I go to read through the paper and were very interested and were also asking more questions. But one by one all the leads seem to ha...

Re: Adrenocortical Hormone Abnormalities in Men with CP/CPPS

Hello again Dr Dimitrakov, Well I went to a third doc (I see a 3 docs in a week) with the abstract of the paper and she found it very interesting .The problem is that they want to see the entire paper to provide an opinion on testing (I understand your comment on not to use this as a diagnostic test...

Re: Adrenocortical Hormone Abnormalities in Men with CP/CPPS

It does get frustrating from time to time - for example, a senior researcher told me recently that if I continue doing CPPS research this will be a "career-breaker" for me. I wonder why - this appears to be an area so far untouched and therefore a lot of scope for innovation/research. Jus...

Re: Adrenocortical Hormone Abnormalities in Men with CP/CPPS

More (basic) questions:
If this was a game of hormones/enzyme, how does trigger point help? I can see relaxation playing a role though.

Re: Adrenocortical Hormone Abnormalities in Men with CP/CPPS

I would actually disagree with that. It is true that using the OLDER (ELISA-based) methodology, testing can be challenging. But that should not be grounds for dismissing the underlying idea of systemic involvement in CPPS. Furthermore, the newer (more precise) proteomic methodology has been well-va...

Re: Adrenocortical Hormone Abnormalities in Men with CP/CPPS

I showed the paper and discussions to my pain management doc. He read through it and found it very interesting. He said however, that testing for the various substances in the pathways is not reliable at all. He advised me to follow it up at a major academic center where the labs can be more accurat...

Re: Adrenocortical Hormone Abnormalities in Men with CP/CPPS

However, there is a similar commercially-available FDA-approved platform for diagnostic purposes and we are developing this platform for future diagnostic testing.
Dear Dr Dimitrakov
Can you provide the name of these tests. These findings are very exciting. THANK YOU!!!

Re: Jerome Weiss, MD (San Francisco)

Thanks for the review. Other patients that I interacted with mentioned that he is very pricey. What are his recommendations then? Also I understand that he initially resisted the idea of Botox but later switched to it.
