I have beat this....

Hello after at least a year of not checking in here I thought I owed it to everyone here to check in and give some encouragement. For those of you who don't remember me I was one of these fairly severe cases. In 2006 I was off work for around 6 months, in bed for around 3 of those. The docs tried 3 ...

When I stopped Elavil I was on 25mg a day and I just cut to nothing from one day to the next. I've been around 10 days so far and have noticed absolutely no difference.

I know the half life of this medicine is long but is it really so long that it can affect you so long after stopping?

Hi Carl, I havent posted or even read the forums for some months now and independantly from you (remember I started taking it not long after you and we have very similar symptoms) I had also decided to drop the Elavil. The reason I dropped it was because I felt I could cope with this on my own and I...

Can you combine Elavil with valium?? I thought they shouldnt be taken together. I went to a new doc the other day who told me to stop taking the Elavil and take Valium 5mg in the morning and 5mg at night, I havent done what he said yet.

Yes I noticed with this flare that I could hold on without having to goto the toilet much better than before. Although I think that is also down to increased control on my part. One of the important things to learn is that when you feel you need to go you actually need to relax those muscles as if y...

I'm still on both those too, actually I have upped Elavil to 50mg daily until the flare passes and I will go back to 25mg. I want to build up to a month feeling good then knock the a blocker on the head. If I can last a month like that I will start taking down the Elavil. I'm on Prosta-Q too.

Nice post carld. I agree with everything you say, as you know my condition is very similar to yours. I had 3 weeks with almost no symptoms (which is a record during the last year). And just this week (last thursday) I had a big flare up which has caused a lot of pain and all the usual symptoms. Now ...

I have noticed this too. When I relax and pee it comes out good, when I'm tight it sprays all over the place and splits and then I feel worse after. In the begining I tried pushing harder when it came out slow because it felt like something was blocking it, of course doing this I was making thigs wo...

Yes I feel like I'm hungover in the morning, very tired and the first day I fell asleep at my desk. I think the Elavil has co-incided with a marked improvement in my condition due to the PT. Everthing is where it should be now and the pain I have is residual, I am learning to relax (not just down th...

Just to get back on this; I have been taking Elavil for a little over a week now 25mg each night and I feel quite a bit better. It certainly helps take away some of the residual pain I have and while its not a cure it is helping at the moment. I am off the NSAID now for a couple of weeks and this is...

During my PT the therapist has found me entire body to be suffering from stress and tension. Now that at last my pelvis seems to be getting better she is working on other areas and so far has found problems in my left foot, left leg, by back, my neck, my jaw and my left arm and fingers on my left ha...

I still take the NSAID when needed and yes I worry about stomach problems. I take a stomach protector in order to counter-balance this and my docs and pharmacist seem to think this is reasonably safe but I still worry about it. The problem is when I dont take them I get really bad and can hardly do ...

I think the only thing the combination will do that is bad is make you more sleepy but you are taking such low doses I doubt this will be a problem.
