Re: New study starting

Please note, this study has been cancelled. The most recent study on IC failed to reach its primary endpoint and the company is pulling the plug on further developement. A pity.

Re: New study starting

Cataracts were seen in one animal species tested (but not others). Drug has been given to several hundred humans in different clinical trials and so far the incidence in cataract development or progression has been the same in those getting drug and those getting placebo. The FDA has mandated carefu...

Re: New biochemical markers for CPPS (Nature)

Sorry, this study is very weak. All diagnoses were made by questionairre. The CPSI was NEVER designed to diagnose CPPS. If a patient had a painful inguinal hernia he would score as CPPS. Artificial segmentation of WBC in EPS (and done without staining which often yields false positives). Final patie...

Re: CNS is a key player in CPPS

What is cause and what is effect? The achilles heal of these type of analyses. You could just as easily show that CPPS patients on average have higher tylenol levels in their blood than controls and say that it is the cause.

Re: CPPS: Positioning, telling, and performing a male illness

Note that the description of the NIH classification is completely incorrect. If recommendation number 1 is the future of medicine, I'm taking early retirement.

Re: Extracorporeal shock-wave therapy and CPPS

Thank you for this. Please excuse my extreme delay in replying. Usually when I am feeling ok, I try to stay off the forum and when I have a massive flair, then here I am again looking for answers. Is this basically the same concept? https://www.storzmedical.com/en/disciplines/urology/product-overvi...

My PA who is very athletic was having pain in the ball of her foot which I treated with our device and now the pain is gone. We are cautiously optimistic.

Low Intensity Shock Wave Therapy

Based on several reports from Europe we have been interested in trying the LiSWT device and finally have one. For our initial experience we are offering it in the context of open label studies. These are purely observational studies (no placebo or controls) that allow us to offer at no charge to pat...

Re: Opioids can prolong and worsen pain

Another rodent study getting overplayed by the science media. The rat immune system is so different from humans (unlike mouse which is closer) that studies like this can only be considered hypothesis generating.

Re: Sexual Guilt and CP/CPPS

Should have published it then. When we would talk with infectious disease MD's who had patients like this and we would quote our anecdotal experience, they would always ask "is there evidence for this, is it in the literature"? It does matter.

This was one I was NOT going to call Shoskes syndrome.

One of my female Urology colleagues says she sees this in the spouses after the husband admits he cheated. Symptoms of STD in the spouse without cultures or antibiotics helping
